now i know 2009 isnt that far in, but its all just a case of history repeating!
    thats the facts right there!
And if had beat the Saders and the Reds had beaten the reTahs then you would have said "trial match results don't mean anything anyway"

Trial - Emirates Western Force 19 – Vodacom Cheetahs 29
    Sunday, 22 January 2006 2:39am
    RugbyWA

In traditional trial match style, the team played expansive and attractive rugby, with members of the youthful backline enjoying the solid platform that had been laid by the forwards.

Coach John Mitchell was encouraged by the way his charges expressed themselves.

"We wanted the guys to have a go and not be inhibited," Mitchell said. "You can't win a flag playing one dimensional rugby; this team's not here to come second."

"The team has got self belief and they'll give it a crack."

Tai McIsaac, who captained the side in the absence of Nathan Sharpe and Scott Fava, was impressed by the form shown by his inexperienced forward pack against the seasoned Cheetahs line-up.

"Considering the experince we had, we did really well at the set piece," McIsaac said. "We gave it to them on their feed (into the scrum), and sometimes on ours."

The Emirates Westen Force will now travel to Melbourne and Auckland for away trial games against the Crusaders and Blues respectively.

EMIRATES WESTERN FORCE 19 ? VODACOM CHEETAHS 29 - Full Time at Subiaco Oval, Perth.

8th Minute: The Emirates Western Force open the scoring with a penalty try. Try converted by Brock James. (history repeating itself?)

12th Minute: The Cheetahs put their first points on the board with a penalty kick from Meyer Bosman.

14th minute: The Emirates Western Force score their second try of the night through Tim Davidson. Try converted by Brock James.

Quarter Time: Emirates Western Force 14 ? Cheetahs 3

27th Minute: The Cheetahs are first to score in the second quarter with Meyer Bosman kicking a penalty.

32nd Minute: The Emirates Western Force substitute Angus Scott for Gareth Hardy, David Te Moana for Adam Whalley and Richard Brown for Matthew Hodgson.

34th minute: The Cheetahs score their second try through Juan Smith. Try converted by Meyer Bosman.

Half Time: Emirates Western Force 14 Cheetahs 13

41st Minute: The Cheetahs score the first points of the second half with a penalty to Meyer Bosman.

do you understand the notion of the stir good sir?
i say you may not, see, as a supporter of a team that is undefeated in 2009 v a supporter of a team that is yet to get the monkey off there back, i would suggest that any hook would be hanging around Jm's neck waiting to pull him aside!

Toowoombas largest/only stadium Clive Bergohoffer Stadium(9'000) is having work done on it and wasnt available for the match.

Sunshine Coast RU, Gold Coast RU and Darling Downs RU were all bidding to host this game, the QRU went with Toowoomba(Darling Downs) over the other two even though Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast offered considerable higher financial bonusses with larger crowds.

The QRU went with Toowoomba because they are introducing a Toowoomba side into the QLD Premier Grade competition in 2010 and this was just a opportunity to build support.

Also Toowoomba is not a holiday location, it is a country town which is the epicentre of the greater Darling Downs region, its main industry base is agriculture and mining. People leave Toowoomba for Brisbane or the Gold Coast on the weekends.

but hey, dont let facts get in the way of a good story

At least we know the clock brothers are the wind up type!

But what you fail to understand is that we are not rejoicing the results..but rather the fact that on a Friday night of a long weekend we SOLD OUT a proper rectangular stadium.

    Wink

Yes Glory had 14,000 in 1995 and there was a music festival with 12,000 people held there -

Spirit v Vikings was biggest ARC crowd
followed by Rebels v Aces at 4,875
Those New South Welsh Rugby lovers cracked a whopping 8th place
with 3,241 at the Fleet v Rams game.

I find it ironic that all the big crowds had something to do with Western Rugby - Can anyone else see a trend beginning to form here???

Edit note: THANKS JARGS GOT 'EM

Glory's record crowd is about 17,500 at the OLD Perth Oval, which was MES before redevelopment into an actual rectangle.

I have the ARC crowds at home in a spreadsheet on my Computer

We need to rename the stadium. MES is pretty boring, no disrespect to the company. But like Dunedins "HOUSE OF PAIN" we need something along those lines.
