    Potential baby Blues for Lam

    Potential baby Blues for Lam
    NZPA
    February 1, 2009

Rokocoko has reportedly ruled himself out of the Blues' opening away leg of this year's Super 14

Impending fatherhood has three first-choice Blues players in doubt for the opening rounds of this year's Super 14.

Two All Blacks -- winger Joe Rokocoko and flanker Jerome Kaino -- and halfback Taniela Moa are all expecting their first child in mid to late February, when the Blues are on their early-season road trip. Their first match is against the Western Force in Perth on February 13, the Bulls in Pretoria on February 21 and the Stormers in Cape Town on February 28.

Team managment have given the trio permission to be present for when the babies are born but a spokesperson told NZPA that each player's case would be a "day to day proposition". "Nothing is guaranteed in these situations but there are contingency plans as to whether the players play or not," the spokesperson said.

Rokocoko, 25, told The Sunday News newspaper he had ruled himself out of the two games in South Africa. "I'm willing to play that Force game but I don't really want to take the risk of going to South Africa and coming back," said Rokocoko, whose baby is due on February 24.

"Depending on when the baby comes, I might be available for the last week, but if he doesn't come until that week then I'll have to wait until they (the Blues), come back."

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

i think with these you have to go by the worst case scenario , how would feel if you had gone and your wife had passed away or the child passed away in giving berth.

    happened to my sister.

I remember 2007 and the while the All Blacks were being reconditioned their S14 sides didn't lose much in their abscence.

JD is right, some things in life are more important. The birth of your children over a rugby game is one of them.

Doh! Looks like I need to tweak my fantasy S14 team already. Best of luck to the expectant dads, and their partners.

And if they all want to go into labour on Fri 13th (auspcious date not withstanding), that's fine by me
