I should have also said i think Mortlocks days are numbered as well, Cross is not the long term solution to 13, hopefully some players put there hands up in 2009 as strong candidates for the position

probably why Mortlock was desperate to move to a new position. Shame there are plenty of players comming through in the new position as well

I wonder if Stirlo being on the outer and losing his captaincy dates back to his drunk night when touring with the Wallabies?

i think TOCC summed it up pretty well, but im pretty sure mortlock was the only available player to fill the 12 jersey! cross had a very good year and took his chances well but AAC is going to be around for a fair few more years than cross (if injuries dont catch him) and he needs to be blooded in position.

cross brakes the line but he does so on the outside about 95% of the time which means he crowds his winger and the only play from there is an inside ball. he also seems to lack a few yards.

but he did have a very good year, cant see him being the 13 by 2011 though, wioth AAC and Horne much better oprtions long term

Cross goes wide and gets shown the sideline... He needs to try a few new running lines... AAC had to cover fullback, Cross wasn't up to that task...

Was Horne the one who debuted against the Force last year?

not sure if that was his debut but he got over the line!
i think he may move to 12 at some stage though.
he has all the tools, just a case of seeing if there is more in the tank second year in

With only a couple of Union seasons under his belt Crossy has plenty of room for improvement in front of him as well, to go with his impressive current form.
He certainly knows how to sniff out the try line though.
If AAC is destined to lock in a single position I think he would be better suited to #12 personally.
However, if his ego can allow him to do so, he may well be better off staying as the Super Sub like Rogers was to ensure he gets selected for every Test.
There's no shame in Bench selection these days as it is a twenty two man game.
