Brumbies announce players for Country Visits

The CA Brumbies have identified the players who will travel across regional NSW and the far South Coast on Friday, 6 March and Saturday, 7 March for the annual ActewAGL Country Visits.

Twenty-nine CA Brumbies players will travel to 11 NSW regional centres to meet supporters and visit young rugby players in the area.

Both Bega and Gundagai have been included as destinations for the first time in the program, now into its sixth year. Wallaby prop Ben Alexander, Australian Sevens representative Peter Betham and CA Brumbies new recruit and scrumhalf James Stannard will visit Bega as well as visiting the St Patrick’s Parish School in Cooma.

Wallaby lock Mark Chisholm, CA Brumbies winger Francis Fainifo, prop Salesi Ma’afu and lock and former Australia Sevens captain Shawn Mackay will travel to Gundagai before hosting a skills session with Tumut Junior RFC.

The Wallaby trio of Nic Henderson, Guy Shepherdson and Peter Kimlin, and Australia A hooker John Ulugia will head to Wagga to take part in a skills session with Wagga Junior RFC on Friday and an autograph signing session at Wagga Wagga Marketplace on Saturday.

Goulburn will also hold two sessions with Wallaby captain Stirling Mortlock joining CA Brumbies teammates Huia Edmonds, Afusipa Taumoepeau and Sitaleki Timani at Trinity Catholic College on Friday before Wallaby utility Adam Ashley-Cooper and CA Brumbies flyhalves Christian Lealiifano and Matt Toomua travel to Centro Goulburn on Saturday.

Saturday’s other signing session will be held at Batemans Bay, featuring Wallaby flanker George Smith, CA Brumbies lock Ben Hand and inside centre Gene Fairbanks.

CA Brumbies winger Clyde Rathbone, back-rower Mitch Chapman, scrumhalf Josh Holmes and winger Alfi Mafi will visit both Boorowa and Cootamundra on Friday, while Mark Gerrard, Julian Salvi and Tyrone Smith will head to the high country in Jindabyne.

The ActewAGL Country Visits have been coordinated to run during the CA Brumbies’ bye week in the Investec Super 14.
