“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

3 tries to one victory for the Reds. Nice one guys. Although I hope it doesn't mean they will be tough to face next weekend.

Many of us up here have been quietly confident that this team was not too far off. We have, however, been keeping a lid on it.

This was rubished by certain arrogant people, but there has been a calm build up by Phil Mooney over the past year and a half. Mark my words, Mooney will be a very successful coach in the future.

I think we are now seeing what Phil Mooney has been building here. Depth wins Super 14 tournaments and the good thing for the Reds is that the Academy team is very strong and the Reds themselves are only in their early twenties.

Too early to get excited, but this Reds team has the look of a dominant province for many years to come.

Oh and James Horwill will be back for the Reds after next weeks bye.

I like that guy on the reds wing, Blair O'Connor. He looks like a little schoolboy but jeez he's good! He was everywhere putting his body on the line the whole game not afraid of anyone. He runs kinda funny, but that's OK since he runs fast at the same time. He's good. Was that his first super14 start?

Higginbottom was also really good, and Cooper had some fantastic kicks.

Genia's cheap shot should have been pinged, binned, the whole shibang! He will be lucky not to be cited. Lucas - does he normally play like that? He took hot and cold to new levels!

Hm doesn't look good for us. Sharks will have their tails between their legs and come out fighting like hell and WE will be the top dog (in our minds for sure, don't know bout the tips) and we will go in there with out heads floating in the clouds and come down with a hard thump. Or at least, past experiance tells me so. I hope future experiance proves me wrong though!

I hope we learn to catch the ball and not throw knock it forward in the next week. Please. It's not that hard.

Sharks sure won't be easy for us...

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

Reds played very well, I loved when Barnes passed the ball into the ref while Maclinden was still in the sin bin to eat up some of the clock

That's the type of arrogance that I was referring to.

Just to remind you of your pre-game boast -

    Round 5 excuse
It was a game of two halves.
The sharks were the better team in both of them

That's fine, keep talking them down.

I think this is what you will find that I said -

Too early to get excited, but this Reds team has the look of a dominant province for many years to come.

Not exactly an arrogant prediction of a dynasty.

But then again it obviously eats you up to give credit where it might be due.

    Your loss.
