    Sharks vs Reds

    1.Ben Daley
    2.Sean Hardman
    3.Laurie Weeks
    4.Adam Byrnes
    5.Hugh McMeniman
    6.Scott Higginbotham
    7.Daniel Braid
    8.Leroy Houston
    9.Ben Lucas
    10.Quade Cooper
    11.Peter Hynes
    12.Berrick Barnes
    13.Digby Ioane
    14.Blair Connor
    15.Mark McLinden

    16.Saia Faingaa
    17.Jack Kennedy
    18.Ezra Taylor
    19.Poutasi Luafutu
    20.Will Genia
    21.Anthony Faingaa
    22.Rod Davies

Ben Daley is prop of former Manly and Kangaroo player Phil Daley, he is facing a baptism of fire and although he gets strong reviews, prop is a position which takes a while to master.

Adam Byrnes comes in place of Van Humphris who is out injured this week, also Digby replaces Fetoia at 13 and Connor gets his first start on the bench.

One thing about this backline, is that it is incredibly quick, apart from Barnes and Cooper they are quite fast sprinters.

I see Higginbotham has held his position TOCC, how has he been going?
Process of elimination for selection or the real deal?
I imagine there would be a couple on TWF who remember him from his WA days.

Why do they keep swapping Digby into the centers? I just don't rate him in that position

Higgingbotham has been playing fantastic, he has been one of the players who has truly risen to the challenge in 2009 and has been one of the best contstant performers.

I dont really like Digby in the centres that much, but in saying that he is the best person for the job.

Whilst i obviously want the Reds to win this match, it will be very difficult and they will need to lift to challenge

Will Genia and Anthony Faingaa still on the bench, that a fair appraisal of their respective seasons?
I seem to recall pretty good reviews of Genia in R1?

I think Digby's in the centres more because of a lack of centres and an overabundance of wingers, would that be right TOCC?

I think the Reds are toast this week BTW They'll score a pretty try or two but I think their forwards won't be able to keep up with the quality of the Sharks.

Next week is a worry too, hopefully the Sharks will score so many on the Reds they wear themselves out and we'll be able to stop the run! I hope

You still form part of the ill informed crowd that believe that the Reds are the pushovers they were a couple of years ago. They aren't.

If the Sharks get past the Reds, they will have earned their victory. If they take the Reds for granted, they will likely be beaten.

Having watched their games to date, I'd have to say the Sharks will walk it. But then I've also watched the Reds games - it is clear what they are trying to do but it just isn't quite coming off. The day it does, they are going to give someone an unholy surprise and it won't matter who they are playing. Maybe this weekend....

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

the reds scrum will struggle, with the loss of holmes and van humphries, and so will the lineout.they had better make the most of any opportunities that come their way.

I wouldn't quite say pushovers, but they do seem to have some issues in the pack.

I guess we'll know Monday morning.......likewise ........swings and roundabouts in a lot of ways!

yeah Holmes is out injured, nothing serious just twinged his neck, he should be back for the next match..

Genia has probably been the better in-form halback compared to Lucas, but Lucas gets selected because he is the best goal kicker in the side.. even though he is pretty rubbish at that

undoubtedly tonight will be tough for the Reds, whilst my heart says Reds my brain says the Sharks..
