    Force V Reds

How do we counter the Reds running game? They are pretty to watch. Their spirit is indomitable. They will talk it up all week. I hope our lads aren't intimidated and overawed.

I'd like to think we can be as good defensively as the Chiefs. It'll all depend on whether we can switch on on the night. Offensively, the Chiefs exposed the Reds' weakness repeatedly last night, unfortunately, we haven't shown an ability to play that way, so this will be an interesting match. We can't afford slow ball from the ruck this week, hopefully the message will be recieved!

Apply pressure on the back 3 with some high balls and good chasing and counter attack, counter attack, counter attack whenever we force a turnover. Reds defense is very vulnerable after they turn the ball over.
Force forwards need to really step up cos the reds pack imo have it over us and i would imagine they will target the force n the set pieces, breakdown and tight pick and drives. I think the reds will play...less flashy then recent times and try to dominate us at our perceived weakness in the pack.
Force will have to keep an eye on digby when they set him up for a short ball. The play is getting predictable but digby is on fire and still able to make substantial amounts of line breaks with it. He will be a shoe in for one of the wing spots in the wallabies this year and in my opinion has been the most impressive ozzie to play at outside centre this year.

The Force backs seem bereft of ideas. The up and under is about their only play on turnover ball. If in doubt, kick it out dominates the psyche

You beat me to it. Seriously. I'll strangle him if he goes NEAR a reporter again. Last year had to rank as one of his crappest performances for us.

Their back three was I'd say their main weakness last night, apart from a quick turnover to the opposition. Connor was playing a really very strange game and their positioning to take kicks was not very good and they let the ball bounce quite a few times. If Hynes is back then damn but if not then we need to kick at them and CHASE for God's sake. Drew and Cummins should be running after EVERY SINGLE ball.

Also I think O'Young should start, with Valentine on the bench. Is Genia back next game?

Will Digby remain at 13? Cross NEEDS to wake up.

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

yeah the back 3 was exposed, a combined tally of 10? S14 caps between all 3.

Donalds tactical kicking was exceptional IMO, he put in some absolutely fantastic chip kicks and long kicks, whilst all the talk is about Muliania and Siviatu, i think Donald is the real lynchpin.

Yea Donald's kicking had a massive impact on the game, without him it would have been very different. Maybe something the force should copy.

Put Spanner in the centres, Shep to fullback and Cummins on a wing.
Bring on players who are competent, fit and willing to play their butt off for a win. Pick the fittest and most determined 22.

I was actually a little dissapointed with Connor. I think I caught his first or second game and I thought he'd done really really well. The second game I watch he gets his bum flogged and plays like a looney balloney!

Hope the reds name him at 11 again

It was great seeing him get hammered and seeing his frail body whiplashing mid air. The hit was a touch early but body contact sports are great aren't they? A year or two in the gym and some club rugby is what he needs. There are too many kids out of high school bypassing senior club rugby and learning how to play.

Another Nudgee boy, plays for Norths as a test of my memory in the Premier Comp.

We'll see a bit more of this boy in the future in the gold.

If he was wearing blue each week like his twin JOC he'd be getting talked about alot more on here. The two boys are pretty similar in career paths they will be undertaking.
