    Tonight's news..Glory's shame over MES

Watch channel 7 news now (after the afl crap). They're talking about the stadium and the Perth Glory owner's shame about the stadium...probably related to the Wolverhampton games and the fact we offer such crap facilities for them to come over and play at.

    They said....

Tony Sage spent 2 million for 2 English sides to come over here.
Facilities are shocking. Ice baths we offer is standing in a wheelie bin. There are only 2 showers in the home change rooms and away are much worse. Glory cramped into the away change rooms because they were too ashamed to let Wolverhampton in to them.
Facilities are bollocks. Glory are pushing for redevelopement particularly for world cup chances. If we don't get any world cup games it will be a huge embarrassment for the state.
Sport minister (forgot his name) said its not such a bad stadium, really doesn't need that much work to be done but still needs some.

Terry Waldron. Looked a complete knob trying to defend the indefensible, straight after a shot of a Wolverhampton player standing in a "Perth ice bath" (wheelie bin full of ice.)

He's just been awarded life membership of the WAC(ountry)FL. No surprise he'd think MES is OK for other sports.

I think you know that's not the case Burgs. Just frustrated by yet another dud politician who won't recognise that there is an increasing number of voters who watch other football codes. An AFL obsessed navel gazer refuses to accept how substandard Perth's facilities are. Also seemingly ignorant of the potential benefits of promoting the international codes..

    Rant over.

Perhaps it is time to ramp up some WNC activities again?

If all Sage lost to generate the bad publicity the Government got for not doing anything was $300,000, it was a great investment.

It would have cost $2,000,000. if he had to pay for it.

While I agree totally with Sage's sentiments about the ground, it's interesting to note that even a double header featuring two such high prfile teams can't outsell the Force/Crusaders match.

More tickets were sold to last nights game against Fulham I have on good authority, but the weather kept them away apparently (much like the Rabbitohs vs Storm game last month, althought the weather wasn't foul for that so I wonder what their excuse was)

While being a labour voter, the federal government pisses me off. We don't get an equal share of government handouts per capita despite paying a whole heap in to that pot. Instead of putting money into worthless $900 dollar stimulus packages they should have put it all into infrastructure. I mean $900 = a flat screen TV or a little bit more savings in the bank that ends up getting eaten up by a) Technology becoming redundant in the case of the TV or b) the tax increases needed to pay off the debts made by giving every man and his dog (literally) $900. At least if it was spent on a stadium 5-10 years from now we would have something to show for it.

Bloody soccer players, you have to draw them diagrams! First the beer goes in the ice, then it goes into the player. It is like their attempts at wine - they never did figure out that you can't eat the grapes first.

If Terry Waldron isn't COMPLETELY embarrassed by that a wheelie bin being used for an ice bath is the best WA can do for elite international sportsmen, then he must be a riot at the party Christmas barbecues. Surely any sane person would be mortified?
