well some may disagree with making money from pokies, but at the end of the day, through there grants they have funded the australian schoolboys comp, and opened up a new club on brisbanes southside. Not to mention developed there own club into one of the best in qld.

To bad the premier grade side is so low on the table this year

Well its been a while since i first posted this, the Reds have been through a complete cleanout since then with new managment and a new coach, and they have added Richard Kingi to there roster for 2010 and Luke Morahan has been upgraded from a academy contract to a full time contract.

    QLD Reds 2010

    Leroy Houston
    Ben Daley
    Greg Holmes
    James Horwill
    Ben Lucas
    Saia Faingaa
    Anthony Faingaa
    Peter Hynes
    Blair Connor
    Robert Simmons
    James Hanson
    Rodney Davies
    Aiden Toua
    Dayna Edwards
    Scott Higginbotham
    Poutasi Luafutu
    Brando Vaalu
    Charlie Fetoai
    Quade Cooper
    Adam Byrnes
    Laurie Weeks
    Jack Kennedy
    Mark McLinden
    Morgan Turinui
    Ezra Taylor
    Daniel Braid
    Van Humphreys
    Sean Hardman
    Will Genia
    Luke Morahan*
    Will Chambers*
    Lei Tomiki*
    Richard Kingi*(academy contract)

In my opionion as well, the Reds have signed the 3 most promising schoolboy players in the current Australian Schoolboys Captain Liam Gill(backrow), Paul Alo Emile(Prop) and Kimami Sitauti(outside back).

Paul Alo Emile is probably the best prop to come through the system in recent years and is a absolute dominant beast, Kimami Sitauti actually has another year of school left but has already been signed, he played in the Brisbane Premier Grade Final for Souths on the wing, pretty impressive considering he is only 16, Liam Gill is just your typical workhorse backrow who leads by example.

Ewen McKenzie has also been in talks with new Wallaby recruit David Dennis about a possible move to QLD, also Ewen has mentioned he will look at upgrading Kingi's academy contract to a full time contract to reflect his new worth.

Despite personal preferences (Turinui to the coaching staff for one...) I imagine this would be your (ie the Reds Selectors) automatic selections TOCC:

    1 Greg Holmes
    2 Sean Hardman
    3
    4 Van Humphreys
    5 James Horwill
    6 Scott Higginbotham
    7 Daniel Braid
    8
    9 Will Genia
    10 Quade Cooper
    11 Digby Ioane
    12 Morgan Turinui
    13
    14 Peter Hynes
    15 Mark McLinden

    With probably Houston at #8.
I assume not listing Digby was an oversight and I haven't missed hearing of him being transfered? Perhaps Digby at #13 if the Wingers are stronger than Centres.
Barnes at #12 and Turinui at #13 would have been a real bonus, such a shame for the Reds to see him walk.
If they could get that combination through a season uninjured then they just might get back into the middle of the table.

    I would play:

    1. Greg Holmes
    2. Sean Hardman
    3. Laurie Weeks (is he the heaviest Reds prop?)
    4. Adam Byrnes (psychotic little bugger- I love it)
    5. James Horwill
    6. Higginbotham
    7. Daniel Braid
    8. Ezra Taylor (if fit)

    9. Billy Genia
    10. Quade Cooper
    11. Will Chambers (to be moved into the centres when ready)
    12. Morgan Turinui
    13. Digby Ioane
    14. Peter Hynes
    15. Mark McLinden

    16. Saia Faingaa
    17. Ben Daley
    18. Van Humphries
    19. Tasi Luafutu
    20. Ben Lucas
    21. Anthony Faingaa
    22. Aiden Toua

The Forwards reserves look pretty healthy and Kennedy, Simmons, Tomiki and Houston all have enough experience to slot in somewhere too but the backs reserves are a little green. Gotta hope there aren't too many injuries back there.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but for the record Kimami finished school in NZ in 2008. Nudgee brought him over for 2009. So he has finished not only schooling but also his eligibility. He is 18+, as you have to be to play Premier grade.

Will play Oz 7s in 2010 and a real S14 bolter.

yeah your right, i posted that somewhere else and got corrected, forgot that i wrote it here, the bloke im talking about is Chris Sautia, heard a rumour he is changing his name for 2010, anyway he is still in year 12 next year, he is another bloke to watch out for.

Was a winger in 2009 but will revert to 13 in 2010 for Brisbane State High School

Whats the story with Aiden Toua, TOCC? Inside Rugby had him listed as leaving the Reds.

yeah not to sure about Aidan, i know he lost his full-time Reds contract but i thought he was just shifting back to a academy contract, he has been injured quite a lot so not to sure whats going on there.

Yeah I noticed Aidan Toua registered for the upcoming Reds trial. Inside rugby must have made a mistake about his departure from the Reds.

well he lost his professional contract and went back to a academy contract, so technically they were kind of correct
