Waratahs sign young South African lock Roodt
The NSW Waratahs have signed 21-year-old South African Hendrik Roodt on a two-year deal to bolster their second row.
Roodt, a former member of the Blue Bulls squad in South Africa's top-flight Currie Cup competition, had joined the Waratahs after a break from the game in 2009.
"At 200cm and 121kg, Roodt will be an enforcer in the ... Waratahs pack when he joins the squad to commence pre-season training in November," the Waratahs said.
"We've looked long and hard for another lock to strengthen our second-row stocks and we believe we've found that with Hendrik Roodt," coach Chris Hickey said.
Waratahs' recruiters have been in overdrive in recent weeks, signing Waikato Chiefs full-back Sosene Anesi on a one-year deal, along with Australia internationals Berrick Barnes and Drew Mitchell.
