    New PC

    Hi

I am looking to buy a new PC so if someone out there that works at a PC SHOP can tell me about my options I will appreciate it

I am looking at getting a entry level Core i7 based system that I can upgrade as I go along

Nerds build their PCs, they don't buy them

(Much of a muchness, Pieter, depending on what you do with your computer. Big time gamer? Just internet and a few documents? Lots of movies?)

    Hey! I build mine ...

PLE (http://ple.com.au/), Austin (http://austin.net.au/), Arrow (http://arrowcomputers.com.au/) have all been around for a while - check their online prices, then call 'em and ask how much to customise how you want

These guys are all my clients, PLE is the cheapest place to buy parts but are all a bunch of wankers to deal with. Austin aren't bad they will give you good service and the prices aren't bad. I would try to put it together yourself you will save heaps and it isn't that hard. I managed to put mine together without any experience just by reading the instructions. if you have any specific questions I am happy to answer.

another point - the longer you put it off, the cheaper (or higher spec'd for same price) it will be...

Yip that is my plan I have the basic idea of how it all goes together and I have installed windows 7 onto my current array of PC's so that will help as well

I was hoping someone can help with cheap places to buy spares and so far the info the guys and girls on here have given has helped a lot

Cheapest core i7 system complete so far is $1500 (Foxcomp)

Yes! Do you know how many pictures I have taken in the last 18 months and how long it will take to get them all back, if I can get them all back?!?!

Its only on the computer that gets connected to the net but the virus must have come in with something we downloaded and when one of us transferred it to the other computer *BAM* virus in and photos gone

Maybe you should have listened to your old man in regards to backing it all up

So if your computer was hooked up to the computer on the net you should still have anti-virus software, at least thats what I have been told

I had backed up most of them but not some of the more recent ones. Thank goodness for facebook (thats the only time I will ever say that!!)

I dont understand the nerdy computer things. All I know is a virus got in, my photos are gone and I would be quite content to punch the person who created the virus.
