Wallabies mull taking No.10 off unhappy Giteau

Wallabies mull taking No.10 off unhappy Giteau
    Greg Growden | October 7, 2009

MATT GITEAU might be moved from the Wallabies five-eighth spot and Lachie Turner could play at fullback as part of a radical back-line revamp for the coming northern hemisphere grand slam tour.

The Herald has been told that the Wallabies selectors are contemplating swapping Berrick Barnes and Giteau around in midfield, but this development could easily destabilise the team as it is known Giteau wants to remain the Test five-eighth. Turner, whom Wallabies coach Robbie Deans appears to be a fan of, will be switched from the wing to the last line of defence.

If Giteau is moved to inside-centre, it could see him reconsider his future as an Australian player. It is known that Giteau, who is contracted to the Australian Rugby Union until the next World Cup, has been disenchanted for some time and that at least two French clubs are desperate to get his services - sooner rather than later. One of the clubs is believed to be Toulon.

Don't do drugs or heat up your wine, just f*ckin do it, it's obvious!
If he doesn't like it then he and his ten foot ego can head to the NH and not play WC.
No one is bigger than the team and if the best position for the team is not your preffered position then suck it up princess.

As for Turner, I would also like to see him play at least a match at #15, I believe he would be very good and better adapted than JO'C or Mitchell.

Surely Grumbles is making this up? Gits would know he'd sound like a complete knob if he came out with something like this... wouldn't he?

I would probably say that Growden is just writning crap in order to sell a newspaper or two. But if there is any truth to it then I hope the door doesn't hit Gits on the arse on the way out, as stated above no one man is bigger then the team

I think the destabilisation thing probably has some legs......look at the shit that was flung around about JM last year, about this time, and this year......haven't heard anything yet.

I don't think he'd up and ditch Aussie rugby, because that would make him seem like a pretentious dick, but he'd sure cause a shit stir in the camp. I've gotta say in three years, my opinion of the man has changed markedly!

Because making the move and sitting the committee in #12 outside a real #10 like Barnes will actually work!

We've been saying it for two years now, hopefully if the NSW rugby heavyweights agree (which they should now that Barnes is a 'Tah) Deans will have a license to make the switch.

That's why Barnes moving to the 'Tahs is the best thing for Aussie rugby, he'll actually get to play in his best position fo rthe Wallabies. But it needs to happen this year, before he's covered with 'Tah stink. he'll see so little ball at #10 next year that he needs a good dose of Wallaby in him to see him through the S14 and into next years tests!
