Australia draw NZ in women's World Cup

With only three pools there must be some form of seeding surely, pretty harsh Pool otherwise!
Great to see Kazakhstan and Sweden taking the code to levels their brothers haven't been able to.

Australia draw NZ in women's World Cup

    November 19, 2009 - 10:26AM

LONDON: Australia have drawn defending champions New Zealand, South Africa and Wales in their pool for the next year's Women's Rugby World Cup in London.

New Zealand's Black Ferns are the undisputed queens of rugby, having won the last three Women's World Cups in 1998, 2002 and 2006.

    They haven't lost a Test since 2001.

The World Cup will be held from August 20 to September 5 next year, with the format and match schedule to be announced on Monday.

England, who have won a record four successive Women's Six Nations, were seeded in Pool B along with the only other former Cup winner, the United States.

The Americans won the inaugural Cup in 1991, and lost the 1994 final to England. Ireland and Kazakhstan, the last qualifier, fill out the pool.

France and Canada, who have met in the third-place game at the last two Cups - both won by France - head Pool C, which also features Scotland and Sweden, returning to the World Cup for the first time since 1998.

    2010 Women's Rugby World Cup:

    Pool A:
New Zealand, Wales, Australia, South Africa

Pool B: England, United States, Ireland, Kazakhstan

Pool C: France, Canada, Scotland, Sweden

WOW! Not knowing too much about the relative fortunes of the Women's teams, Pool 1 looks like a killer!

France seems to be the winners in this draw (unless the Women's teams are vastly different from the Mens)

There must be a second chance or something in Pool A surely GIGS?
They have to end up with 4 for the Semi's somehow.
Perhaps all four from "A" go through to the 1/4s but 3 and 4 play the #1 from "B" & "C" or something?
Guess we will find out in a few days.
