I reckon I'd rate Hilgy over the Schnozz at 10......fullback, different story.

SNK at 15 would push JOC to 12 and make Bart the distributor.....we could do worse! There would also be more kicking options in the squad, If I remember right, his long kicking game wasn't too shabby....don't ask Lote about his short kicks though!

Yeah, from memory he could fairly roost it in open play.

If there was a choice, I'd vote for Jimmy. I thought he was doing all the right stuff, even overcoming that particularly nasty knock to the scone against the Blues. But I'm convinced Andre will impart plenty of the good stuff to Bart, whom I expect to the surprise of season 2010.

Out of curiosity, is there anyone who doesn't want to see Hilgendorf back playing for the Force?

I'm not joking, he was a great asset when he was here and could have gone on to fair better things if we hadn't made Gits the Flyhalf in 07.

I sure wasn't joking and really rate him. I was pissed off he was let go and I'd like to see him back.

I think the Force not re-signing/letting go of Jimmy Hilgendorf along with the early release of 2006 TWF Player of the Year: Scott Stannerforth was two of the biggest mistakes made by RugbyWA ever.

heh - if they ask to go.... gota let them go....

    Have to want to stay.

But Spanner wanted to stay but the ARU refuses to let players play outside Australia in the off season when they are not in the Wallabies. Spanner wanted to play both for the Force and in Japan. But his request was refused.

While I think Barty will do a good job (he is after all an ex wallaby) I still think we need some one like Hilgy/Daruda/SNN/fill in blanks in case of injury or form loss. After all the season hasn't even started yet! I don't think we should use JOC in that position on a regular basis, he is far more useful as Fullback or centre which suits his style of play, and Stefano Hunt is very inexperienced

Spanner was an inevitability, he needed to start on the retirement package while he still had a body (remember how many rehab sessions he had in 09)

Jimmy on the other hand, was a travesty. Possibly he was too much of a threat to Gits playing 10....you'll never know, but the golden haired boy seems to be able to exert a lot of influence in the player group...maybe Jimmy just saw the writing on the wall!

I rate him highly, particularly with a shortage of quality 10s in Australia, he has a shot of developing to an international level here, rather than just in Japan!

People wouldnt have rate brown or hodgo either back then.
i could see potential in developing jimmy into a decent flyhalf back then just like i saw the potential in brown and hodgo at the same time.
at the time due to a developing pack, and slow delivery from that halfback at the time...what was his name?? we were pretty predictable with either brock james and mckay either dropping back deep and kicking poorly for touch or shovelling the ball from side to side until we ran out of space. hilgndorf attacked the line, made the defense think and distributed well and when paired up with spanners inside of him actually made our attack look threatening.

I guess we'll never know now what hilgendorfs potential was.
