Waratahs prop Dan Palmer was one of four passengers accosted by an unruly traveller on the NSW squad's flight from Sydney to South Africa on Monday. Neither Palmer nor the three others were hurt in the separate incidents that occurred in the self-service catering area of the business-class cabin, where the Waratahs players were seated for the flight to Johannesburg. The perpetrator, an Australian man who appeared to be intoxicated, was detained, cuffed with zip-ties and taken to confined seating in economy class after cabin crew were alerted of the disturbances. He is understood to have placed his arm around Palmer and made inappropriate advances towards other passengers, thus sparking the disturbance. ''Dan Palmer was one of three passengers to assist police with inquiries into the incident on the flight to Johannesburg. We were very pleased with how Qantas staff handled the situation,'' a Waratahs spokesman said. Upon landing in Johannesburg the passenger was escorted off the plane by South African police once all the passengers on QF63 had disembarked. Palmer and the three other victims provided police with statements before taking their flight to Cape Town, where they play the Stormers on Saturday.
