Yep it was on of Giteau's better matches... he kicked well... the entire Brumbies team looked tired from their road trip and the heavy ground just added to the slugfest…

I noticed the number of times a Brumbies arm came down on the deck in the front row and no penalty.

Whereas The Lions had a front rower binned for wearing stupid tape on his neck, according to Fox's engine room expert.

Was watching in a pub so no commentary, but some of the ref's decisions did seem one-eyed.
Almost (every?) scrum infringement went against the Lions.
The penalty try shouldn't have been as it wasn't a penalty committed to prevent a certain try.
And if it was a penalty try, why didn't the Lions have a player carded? I'd say Walsh bottled it, realising that he'd already reduced the Lions to 14.

If the Brumbies want to make the finals, they'll have to improve.

Walsh took a dislike to the Lions and they paid the price.

Aussie ref, touchies and tmo. Not good.

Yep, defiantely one of Gits' better kicking matches, I counted about 5 kicks, his trademark grubber sizzling over touch making 3 metres in midfield. A beautiful cross kick to a winger who was covered, a couple of long kicks for touch and of course the glorious cross kick direct to the Lions #13 on the death as they searched for a bonus point.

3 stuff ups out of 5, the Brums kicking coach has actually improved him.

(writing this from memory, there might have been more kicks than I recall)

Didn't watch the game myself but read the online updates. Started with "Giteau kicks it out on the full from kick-off" to "Giteau hoofs the ball downfield again returning possession to the Lions".

    Hahahaha. Some things never change.

Some early kick outs on the full.. The sideline markings were washed away and there was another marking about 1.5m wider which the players thought was the sideline...

Muddie I am fishing and you are biting LOL so take it easy

When I coach the kids I always tell them that if you have the ref on your side you will increase your chance of winning a hundred fold. The only way to do that is to treat him with respect and do what he wants even if he is wrong and even if he is a idiot in your eyes.
The first time you sweat at him or tell him he was wrong that is when you start turning the favour into the opposition side.

The Lions lost it when they started irritating the referee

I still think that the Lions were the better team on the park but they lost because the referee was influenced by behaviour and did not follow the basic rule of being neutral and applying the laws fairly both ways.

Even the Canberra press think the Brumbies was shit

The Brumbies threw everything at the dogged Lions at the end but poor ball handling and poor decision making cost them.

But the most alarming column on the competition ladder for the Brumbies is the one headed BP, which still reads zero.
    .......

Captain Stephen Hoiles conceded after that match it was disappointing not to take the maximum five points from the contest.
    ...........
It was anything but pretty last night.
    ..........
If rugby was supposed to return to being a form of entertainment this season, last night's deplorable display should be erased from all memory. Immediately.

Press just expected a fast running game but conditions were atrocious… The bonus points wre expected but did come... Brumbies were on a short week after flying back from a very tough tour and looked weary… As I said early respect to the Lions their defense was greatly improved but they were never seriously in the match...

They play the Sharks next week and they will have to do better or the Sharks will have them for dinner…

    Excuse, excuse excuse.
The Reds played the Blues in a monsoon, there was plenty of running rugby.

The Chiefs flew from South Africa and ran the ball plenty

At least when our boys play like dogs, we admit it.......mostly!

    Yeah Yeah.

I was meaning the refs should be neutral.

    Easy enough to do.
