Why should it only be about making money though?

    Look at Cricket Australia.

They bank roll the shield & whatever the ODI torny is called now and make huge losses on both series. But because they are there Australia has produced so much talent.

The ARU should be trying to do the same thing, especially with O'Neill bemoaning that the World Cup is what matters the most.

If the ARC did still exist you would have A LOT more depth at wallaby level, a long with some captains who are ready to takeover.

Never said it was only about making money. But it should get some return to help with costs. Looks like a few of us disagree. How unusual.

    I'm with Jombi re cost.

The ARC might NEVER make a buck.....big deal, if it's a worthwhile training structure, those funds are an investment in future potential, not a loss!

So if you want to draw a long bow, JON is against investing in our game!

Sigh, here we go again... Seriously there about 10 000 threads on here (many more appropriate) where we've all repeatedly spouted our opinions on the topic ad nauseum for the last 3 years...

Pretty depressing watching the quality of the NPC games in the lead up to the bledisloe game on fox.

    Hi Forcees,
Just watched the game for the third and most sober time. I think you're a bit harsh on Rocky, his game wasn't too bad at all.
The 1st 2 yellows weren't even pentalies (Franks and Robyn's boy) the red was shocking, the the flag was up but there was no indication of whose ball it was. The first AB try (Carter's) was offside as it came off Nonu. The McCaw try (great run) was from a non roll away hands in the ruck, the Cory Jane try (where he slipped Brown) started from what should have been a penalty for Thorn holding on.
Any test with 14 on for a half is not test match footy. Bam Bam was outstanding (the new McCaw 5-1 in the 2nd), but not a great ball in hand player yet.
For me I reckon Oz isn't as far off the mark as most Aussies and Kiwis think. Set piece is ok, plenty of ticker, plenty of zip in the backs (not so bright yet). The forwards need more than Sharp, Elsom and Brown as ball runners. Genia's not getting the chance to 'snipe' as he would like, but him not doing so the pickings are easier wider out.
It is a crying shame that Cooper allowed that Saffer to get his ankles above his waist.

You'll notice I haven't mentioned Josh Tatupu. He played ok but Otago was woeful against Counties with Tana Umaga playing his first game back. Otago had 60% and lost by 20 duh?

Chch this Saturday will be very wet and very cold which probably won't allow Australia to play as they would like and I think the ABs will win but not as easily as many are predicting.

P.S. I thought Mitchell (of the Drew variety) was a prick with the Force but he played well this year and was robbed last Saturday (but apologetic). Should be there.

P.P.S. Christchurch average July temp was 5.4 degrees, how shit is that?

Just to clarify my original post, I'm talking about Rocky's leadership not his personal match

You're a bloody astute kind of a bloke aren't you?

My concern is that the transformation of Drew after leaving the Force might just be John Mitchell's biggest folly.....He couldn't get the best out of Drew, He couldn't make Gits play 12 and two (IMHO) far lesser coaches have made both of those things happen.

Props to Drew for picking his game up, but Chris Hickey surely deserves some of the plaudits, he would get plenty if he had broken him!

Maybe we should make a play for Elliott Dixon, the 8 who scored a powerhouse try for Southland on the weekend and generally caused havoc whenever he ran. He's got All Black written all over him. Their blindside wasn't far behind.

Australia just doesnt have the depth of NZ thats the problem... a few injuries to key players and the Aussies struggle.
Deans has blood some new players quick get Ben Mac out onto the paddock quick they need some mongrel. Get JOC into 12 and look for a big 13 that can feed off JOC and Gits. Get rid of Brown now. Rocky into 8.

At least for a training session, if not a match, I would like to see Elsom tried at #4 instead of Mumm as we have plenty of Backrow options.
