I got my Auckland, Christchurch and Wellignton WF team pack for about $2600 for 2 tickets each match. Pretty happy but if its going to cost bucketloads for accomadation i'll pass on attending. I'm a student so I can only afford hostel accomadation.

Reduce the accommodation costs....would be a good start to increase ticket sales...Doh!!!

Sorry guys wrote this before I saw the previous threads..Accommodation costs are a joke!!! Until I heard about the World Cup Cruise, I was going to hire a Harley and put a swag on the back...!!!

unfortunately they dont have any control over the accommodation costs, ultimately there is more demand then there is supply with the accommodation, hence exorbitant prices, there will be quite a few profiteering out of this RWC..

I've been to many sporting events around the world and I've pretty much come to the conclusion that the above is absolute crap.

Beijing 2008 $10 a night hostels everywhere half the hotels were empty during the event. FIFA World Cup 2010 hostels for $20 a night inner city hotels for $100. These kiwis are kidding themselves people are no longer prepared to pay huge money to watch these things. They've banked for 85 000 yet only 25 000 people have booked tickets and every foreigner basically got what they want. Not very good stats so far if I was tourism New Zealand...no wonder they've rushed the tourism Rugby ball over here quicksmart and Martin Sneddon knows full well that tourism numbers are well down and people have decided not to turn up if its going to be expensive.
