Maybe. But if you were in Mandurah, you would not be alone.

I don't think toss is a swear word.

And I couldn't give much of one either, but I am happy for their loyal fans, in much the same way as they will be happy for us when the has their Finals foray, next year perhaps.

Well, 11.59 we might get a bit of rugby coverage. Nothing else worth hearing about.

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

He's not in Perth, and I doubt many would agree with his assessment of the skills involved in kicking an oval shaped ball, but I doubt this bloke was watching either.

''Aussie rules is a dumbed down field sport; it is essentially a game of long-distance running, with the ball as an optional extra. As it happens, they play it with an oval ball, which in a kicking game reduces the skill level even further.

''They learn to kick it very long, and very straight, off the flat of the foot, because that is the only way an oval ball can be kicked with accuracy. It is a one-dimensional skill, outside of which there is little room for experimentation. You cannot put curl on it with a shot off the instep, nor slice an arc on it with a shot off the outside - you'd just look stupid for trying.'' - Tommy Conlon, Irish Independant

I disagree with the last statement. Pat Travers, just back from a 6 week "break", kicked a magnificent goal for East Perth on the weekend, curving it tightly from the Left Full Forward pocket boundary line with at least 3 East Fremantle defenders around him. Also, another EP player, Tim Noakes, kicks for goal in a similar style to a rugby player kicking a penalty/conversion.

Mind you, thats WAFL not AFL.

Sorry, jono. You'll have to wait until next year. Was a cracker of a game though.
