    ACCOUNTABILITY THE KEY FOR FORCE

Emirates Western Force players arrived for day one of pre-season and were under no illusions of what they were in for with a sign hanging above the gym door saying ‘Welcome to Work’.
New Head Coach Richard Graham has put together an demanding programme for the playing squad and said accountability would be a key driver throughout their pre-season preparations.

“The one thing about the way we’ve planned the pre-season is to make the players accountable, whether that be through distances run, through times clocked or their heart rate measurements we want to make the players accountable,” Graham said.

“The ratio of staff to players is greater to maximise the potential of the individual, so from that point of view weights groups are smaller and on field session will be individualised.

“For us, the next month is certainly about our strength and conditioning and preparing ourselves for rugby (on-field training) in December.”

While getting to know the pre-season programme, the squad will also be spending time getting to know each other with new signings including Pat Dellit, Rory Sidey, Gene Fairbanks, Phoenix Battye, Paul Alo-Emile, Cruze Ah-Nau and Siliva Siliva kicking off their Emirates Western Force careers.

“The boys are bit nervous, I think it’s a bit like the first day of school, but are looking very much forward to it,” Graham said.

“There are a lot of new faces so we want to make sure that we bond very quickly.”.
