    The Depth of New Zealand

In watching the ITM Semi's over the weekend, I got to thinking that many a Second Tier Nation would be pretty happy to have the All Black (selection) table scraps.
Having a look through the Provincial Squads and here's a couple of selections from those not in the 30 man Spring Tour Squad due to injury or non-selection.

    Selection One:

    1 Neemia Tialata
    2 Corey Flynn
    3 John Schwalger
    4 Jason Eaton
    5 Isaac Ross
    6 Adam Thomson
    7 Victor Vito
    8 Rodney So`oialo

    9 Piri Weepu
    10 Stephen Brett
    11 Zac Guildford
    12 Luke McAlister
    13 Rene Ranger
    14 Sean Maitland
    15 Israel Dagg

    16 Andrew Hore
    17 Jamie Mackintosh
    18 Chris Jack
    19 George Whitelock
    20 Brendan Leonard
    21 Benson Stanley
    22 Fetu`u Vainikolo

    Selection Two:

    1 Wyatt Crockett
    2 Ti`i Paulo
    3 Jacob Ellison
    4 Kurtis Haiu
    5 Anthony Boric
    6 Karl Lowe
    7 Tanerau Latimer
    8 Scott Waldrom

    9 Toby Morland
    10 Aaron Cruden
    11 Tim Nanai Williams
    12 Colin Slade
    13 Adam Whitelock
    14 Ben Atiga
    15 Robbie Robinson

    16 Jason Rutledge
    17 Kees Meeuws
    18 Jeremy Thrush
    19 Luke Braid
    20 Michael Hobbs
    21 Casey Laulala
    22 Winston Stanley

    Spare Parts:

    Clint Newland
    Aled de Malmanche
    Tom McCartney
    Chris Lowrey
    Serge Lilo
    Willie Ripia
    Ben Smith
    Dwayne Sweeney
    Brent Ward
    Jared Payne
    Matt Berquist

Maybe not All Black material now, but most would give a fair account of themselves against the Second Tier Nations.
Until Australia developes a true National Club/Provincial Comp we don't have a hope of even dreaming of that kind of depth.

The ARU adopted an alternate strategy when they awarded the S14 franchise to the Western Force six years back.

Since our formation, how many Wallabies have been groomed by the Force ? Not counting the fifo's who didn't hang around for long there's -

    Richard Brown
    David Pocock
    Ben Mcalman
    James o'Connor
    Scott Staniforth
    Ryan Cross
    Pek Cowan
    Mat Henjak
    Mat Hodgson
    Cameron Shepherd
Digby Ioani (ok, that's a bit of a stretch)

Not forgetting the stalwart Sharpie who was capped whilst at Qld but has been a kingpin for a sixth year at the Force and is going strong for the Wobblies.

I must have missed some ........ other than Gits and Drew.
