Hoiles re-signs with Brumbies

Brumbies captain Stephen Hoiles will play with the Canberra-based franchise until at least the end of 2012 after signing a new contract.

The 28-year-old back rower, who has played 16 Tests for the Wallabies, joined the Brumbies from New South Wales in 2007.

He took over the captaincy last year from Stirling Mortlock and was recognised for a stellar 2010 season as winner of the best forward award at the team's presentation night last month.

Hoiles says his preference was always to stay in Canberra.

"To be honest, I didn't want to play anywhere else," he said in a statement.

"I've really enjoyed my time in Canberra.

"This group has the potential to achieve a lot more than we did this season and I certainly want to do my part to ensure that we can realise that potential."

Hoiles says chasing further Test representation was an added incentive to remaining with the Brumbies.
