so there is at least 29'500 australians heading over to New Zealand for the RWC.. half of those are probably kiwi and south african supporters though

Kiwis taking the opportunity to head home and see family. Might not be quite the input to NZ B&B economy as they thought!

I know a couple of kiwis heading to Bali for the finals weeks.
Celebrate cheaply if they win each match, hide from their Aussie mates when they choke.

only 1900 Australian team packs have been purchased.

This world cup is going to not be on the same level as the two previous tournaments.

that doesnt mean a whole lot though, most Australians dont want to buy the team packs because they are crap value, i know a lot of my mates bought the Christchurch package becasue of the better quality matches they get to watch.

well exactly the problem is that still demand from overseas fans has been next to nothing. Oonly 4 games at the moment look like they're going to sell out.

I am not prepared to pay a premium for "packs" on games I don't want to see, and for over priced accommodation......So I won't be one of the statistics...chancing my powers of persuasion to get accommodation over there..or I just hunker down in my "swag"...and purchase tickets to the games I want to see. if they are sold out I will go to local bar and watch it there...the atmosphere should still be awesome...

It is a little like the Olympics though, any game is a good game at the RWC for a Rugby lover.

Incorrrect, there are not 85 000 going to New Zealand. There are thousands of corporate packages available for purchase on websites and no one is purchasing them. There is plenty of hotel and hostel accomadation available and cheap prices and considering all tickets have been available for some time now Only New Zealand France, France Canada in Napier and the two Quarter Finals in Christchurch are unavailable for purchase.

apparently there are still over 20 000 tickets available for the opening match.

Fuck off you stupid migrant. I work in the sector and many of those packages have been sold to New Zealanders. The response from Australia has been poor hence the Tourism Rugby Ball was rushed over here quick smart 3 months ago. The Fanatics for instance recently dropped their prices for packages to the Semis and Final. Its cheaper to go to the Rugby World Cup Final than the AFL Grand Final if you buy a package.

    Lol, xenophobic much?

I don't think your part time job at flight centre counts as a expert opinion, get some figures and then come back to me..
