    The Committee strikes again...

The Brumbies have sacked Andy Friend as coach of the Super Rugby team.

A spokesman for the Brumbies confirmed reports on ABC Radio of the sacking of Friend.

This follows media reports in the past week of internal grumblings within the playing group.

Friend was in the final year of his three-year contract with the Canberra-based side.

The Brumbies will hold a press conference at 1200 AEDT on Tuesday.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

"Friend's saga brings back the memories of David Nucifora's sacking in 2004. Nucifora was the victim of a player revolt against his coaching style. He remained at the helm for the season and the team went on to win the title at home against the Canterbury Crusaders."

I had to chuckle when I read yesterday that Friend had a meeting and asked if there was any problems to which there was no reply.

    He then said...see....no problems...

The committee were probably handing out the player survey forms as he spoke.

I thought Andy Friend was an internationally renowned coach who would take the Brumbies to 17 straight championships

Isn't it interesting that Bernie Larkham has been touted as a best friend of Matt Giteu and his name is the only one mentioned as a long term successor.

IMHO of Bernie does get the job, it'll be the short term position not the longer term one, giteau is off to fuck up some French club next year so why would you appoint an untested coach at this level to take up a position after his major (only?) supporter has left?

Another nail in the coffin of Gits, I can't believe I was so naive to think he was a great player when he signed for the force! Giteau is poison, the ACT is now below the Tahs on my oz rugby ranking for not having the stones to stand up to the petulant little princess.

I hope the team sucks balls this year, doesn't win a game and giteau picks up a long term injury (yes, I know I normally chastise people for wishing that on a player, but really.......he deserves it!)

Why now? I will reserve judgement until someone actually tells us what is going on. Do SMH have any more information on their source "ABC Radio", what show was it on, who was the Brumbies rep?

The articles at this stage look dodgey to say the least.

Poor Friend, doesn't even get a John Mitchell style independent inquiry...players must have found a fast track to coach sacking.

I can't wait untill we find out the real reasons behind this.
