Adam Ashley-Cooper poised to sign for the Waratahs

Bret Harris From: The Australian March 28, 2011 1:43PM

WALLABIES outside back Adam Ashley-Cooper is expected to announce in the coming days he is leaving the Brumbies to join the NSW Waratahs in the Super rugby competition.
Ashley-Cooper recently re-signed with the ARU, but he has until Thursday to decide whether to stay in Canberra or move to Sydney.

It is understood Ashley-Cooper's relationship with Sydney-based fashion stylist Pip Edwards will influence him to change clubs.

The Brumbies have already admitted they are not optimistic about keeping Ashley-Cooper, while the Waratahs believe they have more chance of securing him now than they did at the start of the negotiating process.

Ashley-Cooper made his Super rugby debut for the Brumbies against the Crusaders in 2005 and he has played 51 Tests for the Wallabies.

A versatile player, Ashley-Cooper can play four positions in the backline, but would likely play inside centre for the Waratahs.

Play inside centre for the tahs........he probably wouldn't do too well there, anything the tahs have done well has completely ignored their midfield.........but that could be because their midfield consists of Tom Carter and Rob Horne

He's not going to get a lot of minutes is he? Then again, what about Matt Toomua, he's not getting any time at the Brums, is he injured, or is it just committee power over actual capability

BKH has been injured. I don't know the story with Toomua. Since the Tahs would have Lachie Turner, AAC and Horne as options at 13 BKH isn't likely to see any game time and the kid is a great prospect.

Certainly is a bit of opportunity to raid the Tahs, Reds and Brumbies Centre stocks..

the ReTah'ds look a little top heavy in particular

    Certainly looks like it: http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8230072

    I like the quote...

Brumbies skipper Matt Giteau sent his teammate a congratulatory tweet on Tuesday: "Well done @AdamCoopy on ur decision!

"I knew u were going especially wen I gave u a coffee this morning and u said 'tah' instead of thanks."

I think it makes Matt Giteau sound like a bit of an idiot.
