Significantly all of the leagues I know are from near Auckland, it appears that rugby isn't as much a religion there, but I also know a few south islanders and they seem to be more rugby focussed and (at least amongst my friends) more geographically consistent (ie Cantabrians support canterbury, southlanders support highlanders)

I'd agree that any part time mug generally supports the crusaders, but really, there's plenty of part time mugs who will go to watch any kiwi team have a win, and get shitty and throw blows if they don't
Pretty much the same. My inlaws are from the South Island and theyre all about union. Most of the guys/gals i know from Auckland/king country/rotorua type areas are more into league until the allblacks play. There are of course some that are into both codes. They'll even cheer about the soccer and cricket if the team does well , even if they have no idea about the sport.....they cheer even louder if they beat the aussies in anything really haha.

eg NZ Breakers winning NBL Basketball championship atm......when was the last time a ozzie mayor had a parade for a NBL winning team? hahaha

I am a bit ambivalent about this one. I know that if I were to ever move overseas, I would NEVER stop supporting the Wallabies, and if I were ever to move anywhere else in Australia, I would NEVER stop supporting the Force.

Yet it always raises my ire when residents of many a year turn out in opposition colours to support a visiting team in a Super 15 or Test match. Might have something to do with my innate prejudices. I seem to be a little bit more forgiving of the Irish and Welsh, and less so of Kiwis, Poms and South Africans.

    There you go. Confession over.

That's not prejudice Beejay, that's you (and me for that matter) being pissed off at losing, I'm quite happy for people to turn coat to a team which is going to get flogged, but moving to a team who are going to win just isn't on.

What pisses me off is the mad keen kiwis who go to every game where a kiwi team is likely to win, but miss the ones where kiwis are likely to lose.

It's much the same as those force supporters who don't bother going to the games which we're likely to lose.

I disagree. It's not that nothing would get done.
Nothing requiring scaffolding would get done.

Q: Why haven't kiwis gotten to the moon?
    A: not enough scaff bro

If every journey begins with a single step, why does every signature begin with a statement of self-satisfied one-upmanship?

I have been to the last few games, sitting in gold member seats and noticed a huge amount of women nearby who havent stopped gabbing throughout the game and dont even bother watching. I have noticed this at games in the local comp aswell. Why do they bother.??? Those tickets at NIB couldve gone to some passionate supporters who wanted to be there... My advice, stay home and cook up a decent feed for when your man gets home from the game... oh, and make sure the beers are cold...

You're treading on dangerous territory here - sure you're man enough to start this kind of debate?

Agreed, I think we should leave that one well alone and stick to xenophobia.

    PART-TIME ***** SUPPORTERS IN PERTH

I don't think you can point the finger at JUST rugby fans. I had a similar conversation on Saturday at my golf club...

Golf partner (GAYFL fan): "what you up to this weekend"
Me: "Going to the Force game"
Golf partner: "why bother, I hear they are $hit"
Me: "typical Perth "fan" - only go and watch winning teams"
