Might be ok for mungoes, but I recall someone trying to run over the top of a ruck a while back and getting pinged for dangerous play.

Yeah, nah, in proper rugby that man would be penalised.

In mungo, however, it seems anything goes in their "scrums".

    1. Stop stealing my lines. And anyway it's "yeah, no" in Mungospeak.

    2. You're right there, Sir. In proper Rugby the scrums all go swimmingly, never need to be re set, never collapse and referees rarely need to sanction scrum infringements as they have them under complete control with their uniformly timed calls. In the rare instance they do blow it up they ALWAYS penalise the correct team because they understand scrummaging so well.

So off the head is not a knock on?

Well, in the situation of scoring a try, I believe it's about forcing the ball before it hits the ground. I know any part of the body can be used to force the ball, so if it's not contacted the ground, or another player before he forces it (even with his head) it is considered regathered.

Makes you wonder whether throwing the ball over a defender and then forcing it would be OK! I guess it would, but I assume he'd still be allowed to tackle you.

I would have paid it. My recollection is that the knock-on law specifically says arm or hand, so anywhere else is OK. Certainly the ball comes out of many a ruck forward and is called play on, off the knee, etc
