    Like say, Turner, or cummins?

sharpe on the bench I can deal with, vickerman brings the aggression and physicality in the pack but can do some duumb shit and go overboard at times, and then when sharpe comes on you get a steadying hand, a player that will make the advantage line defensively sound etc.

but mccabe at 12... seriously WHAT THE .... i dont like saying it but lets hope his shoulder isnt that good

Whether or not Berrick is retiring should have no impact on selections in the finals of ANY tournament, let alone the one which decides who can call themselves World Champions for four years.......aside from which, the AllBlacks will apparently play their skipper and most passionate and iconic player apparently with a pin sticking out of his foot........you don't see them worrying about his health in this situation.....if he buggers it up and we lose that's really bad luck but if he's not there at all and we lose that's poor management!

Or we could get a handy lead ourselves by, say, half time and continue builing on it in the second half, if only some attacking players were to start the match.

I can potentially see the yarpie lineout as a weakness as the game progresses, due to no specialist lock cover on the bench. Alberts and Louw are either 6 or 8. Give Vickerman the licence to damage Matfield and Danie, force one of them off injured, then the locking of the scrum won't be as good as it could be and might allow the wallabies to gain the upper hand in the set piece at both lineout and scrum.

But with these two on the bench, SAfr will be hammering the breakdown for the entire 80 minutes

That's a good point, actually. Why has Deans gone back to a 4-3 bench split for this game? I'd have though the Boks was a game where you want a 5-2 bench split.

Kafes picked the right team last night. Run on backs should be Barnes (10) and MacCabe. McCabe defends aggressively, Barnes passively. With Barnes the ball carrier gets across the advantage line, with McCabe he does not. So...heavyweight Boks have 30 mins in them, Barnes's kicking can turn them around, when a bit tired, bring on Cooper, move Barnes to 12 and McCabe to bench.

From reading the forums on eastern states websites there is a huge outcry over McCalman being on the bench ahead of Higginbotham. Lots of this is QLD bias but personally I can see their point. I don't think McCalman has done enough with his chances and Higgers would offer more impact and unpredictability if we need to produce something from the bench.

it pains me to say it, but I think you're right Buddha.....that being said, I would drop Rocky, of the three (let's not even TALK about Palu) he's been the least effective....sure he's been good enough in some matches, but certainly the lesser of the three. Higgers to start and keep Benny Mac on the bench for mine!

Berrick in 12, slotting to 10 when required Ant Faingaa and somebody zippy on the bench (Maybe a Rod |shudder| Davies or some quick outside back whose name doesn't spring to mind yet) Swap Vickerman and Sharpe whilst I'm pruning

Put that together and you might have a handy enough team to go all the way, but right now I think we'd be lucky to beat an ageing and tired Bok with three of their best off the park

But can you imagine what would happen if Pocock got injured? McCalman is definitely a better call than Higginbotham. You can't trust Queenslands. Next they will be telling you Saia Faingaa should be starting.

Hey Ecky, if this lot get a into the lead at half time we have as good as lost with the way they have been playing! They seem to have cought the Force problem of capitulation in the last half.

By the same token, if they're NOT in the lead they'll lose by more.......let's just say we want them to be in the lead at the final whistle!

The Boks respect Vickerman... McCabe is a safe inclusion when you have Cooper/Beale/JOC/Digby combos for the passing game... McCabe/AAC centre combo is a rock...

Boks will play high ball up and unders, They have no other game just kick and chase, kicking it straight back to Quade Cooper, boks have also let a few tries in and struggled against Wales and Samoa, so its a trough match but should be a Wallabies victory as long as the forwards go hard and helped with the thankful return of Pocock... This time we have all our key players on the field in the right starting positions, Quade, Beale, JOC, AAC, Moore, Pocock, Rocky and Vics.
