    And Ben Seymour.

I'd rate the Force over the Brumbies across the park. The only area where you guys stack up is in the scrum and that really all depends on who you play and who we play. Charles is fast making up ground on Moore and TPN.

Chances are Brumbies fans have never heard of Tevita Kuridrani.

But at 196cm and 100kg, the speedster could provide the backline punch and X-factor the Brumbies have been searching for.

The Brumbies have lacked a backline wrecking ball since injuries stunted Stirling Mortlock.
Hardly a wrecking ball - he's the same weight and a bit taller than Staniforth. 100kg isn't big for a back any longer.

Spanners was 6'2 at 100 kgs at 30 years

Kuridrani is 6'4 at 100 kgs preseason at 21 years

Was Ripia in the Force last year? and I thought Chucky was a specialist scrum half... Australia really needs provinces to produce more top level flyhalves who can play for the Wallabies...

I don't think much of Spanners was middle-aged spread, and being the same weight but 2 inches shorter would surely make him more compact? At 6'4, as I said, 100kg isn't a wrecking ball; but if he has the skills he might be a very handy centre.

I'm more concerned about the size of his heart... if its as big as spanners he'll do well...

Thumbs up We've got the Power

At 2m tall, the Brumbies newest towering lock Leon Power has never been one to get lost in a crowd.

Power’s huge frame and tough style of play were standout features of the 25-year-old’s game while playing for the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand’s ITM Cup this year.

Now at the Brumbies, Power is looking to leave his mark on the competition he’s worked so hard to be apart of.

A Kiwi-Aussie cross who had the luxury of choosing between the two mighty rugby nations, Power was born in Sydney but moved to the small town of Okato, near Taranaki on New Zealand’s north island at the age of six.

To speak to, most people would find it hard to believe Power has Australian heritage. His thick Kiwi accent is sure to be tested with banter from the Brumbies boys over the next two years, but Power is just happy to be a part of such a professional rugby program.

“[The program] has been really good so far, it’s a step up from the ITM Cup as far as how specialised all the trainers are and all the technical aspects of training,” Power said.

“It’s really professional – you’re given every opportunity to be the best athlete you can be.

“There’s a big aura around the Brumbies back at home, as far as being the pinnacle of Aussie rugby… it’s a big honour to be here and I’ve got a lot to live up to really.”

With Mitch Chapman and Mark Chisholm both finishing their time in Canberra at the end of the 2011 Super Rugby season, Brumbies Coaching staff were left to find some tall timber to fill the void.

Forwards Coach Laurie Fisher said he was pleased with Power’s progress and looked forward to seeing him make the most of a Super Rugby contract.

“I’ve watched a bit of Leon with the Bay of Plenty this year and what impressed me the most was that he just played for the full 80,” Fisher said.

“He’s got a good engine and he just worked away, made his tackles, chased the play and worked hard at the ruck so if that’s your basis, that you’ve got a really strong work ethic, then that suits where we want to go.

“We need people who want to get down and dirty and that’s what we’ve got to ask Leon to do, to put your head in where most people don’t want to and just work away, I think he’ll be great value for us in that respect.”

    Leon Power
    POS: Lock
    H/W: 2m, 116kg
    DOB: 27/2/1986, Sydney
    Senior Club: Bay of Plenty

Has Ripia moved? I missed that, where's he playing in 2012? I'm honestly sorry mud, I didn't realize we'd lost him. I assume he's playing for another Australian province since his development contract would have been over three years.

Chucky has payed a lot of 10 at club level, just never tested at Super Rugby before last year.

Will Van Dyk reckoned he was a better 10 than 9 when he went around for Perth Gold!

I guess the time honing those skills in sevens made him stand out a bit more.

Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Chucky especially in 7s, good rugby brain... it was a shame the brumbies didn't give him some good game time years ago, same goes for the force. He's a talent who hasn't been given enough opportunity at a few provinces... as for Ripia I can't remember him playing for the force last year but I guess he must have?
