Yep. And I can't say it was bad for me financially. I've got my house deposit. And it paid for my move.
But I'm not willing to let a job impact on my relationship. When my contract finished I got a spot in the workshop.

There are heaps of jobs in resources, but they're really after the skills. They don't want to train people from scratch. Flexibility is important, as are transferable skills. As jono said, there are also a lot of contracting companies which are after the same thing.

And, FIFO can be hard, particularly if you go onto a construction roster. You get paid for it, but it's harsh.

    PM me!
Im an Inlec Maint Planner I live and breath SAP.

Pretty much why I quit FIFO when I had my first Bub. I didnt think it was healthy having an absent father in their lives. I enjoy being a member of the family and community.
The last FIFO place I worked at, a colleague of mine started taking anti depressants. Told him he should see the site nurse so the company was aware of his medication and state of mental health. The Nurse told him half the site was on anti--depressants. Pretty sad. The guy I worked with was sad that he was away from family and missed out on most things but he felt trapped and forced to work under fifo conditions in order to maintain the lifestyle to keep his wife happy. Seen so many marriage failures that start this way. I told him the way to go is to get a residential job. Now working in Kal with his family and is happy as larry.

Quite right Eley, chuck a dress on and comb your hair - already be too good for a rugby crowd.
