Specifically looking at this "situation" which BTW I described as a fiasco, this has been addressed by myself and numerous others on several threads. As you are a n00b, to help you out this is the gist of the news conference he fronted with RG before it became clear just how badly he had misread "the situation"

Reid said the 39-year-old Graham had exercised a “get-out” clause in his contract, but remained adamant he was still the best man to lead the struggling Force for the rest of the 2012 season

Of course the single greatest problem with this was that, as was recently revealed, Graham was in complete control of recruitment and player retention. I won't bother pointing out the conflict of interest involved when he has just signed mid season with our greatest competitors, I'm sure you can figure it out.

Further, a lackadaisical and disinterested demeanor in the game day coaching box had become obvious, combined with a complete lack of a meaningful game plan - with kicking it away aimlessly at the earliest opportunity apparently being coaches instructions (as revealed by Blake prior to SA road trip). RGs heart and concentration clearly was not in WA, he was already in QLD.

Then, when it became obvious he had dropped the ball (gotta use sporting cliches and metaphor), he announced the players would make the decision on Grahams future at the Force, completely abrogating board responsibility, and once again reinforcing the notion of "player power" that is recognized as our biggest bane since GitsGate and MitchellGate.

Player Power (in this case actually condoned and encouraged by the board) is recognized as one of the key issues that could prevent a prospective coach from wanting to join the Force. Looking at the Brumbies (yikes ) the very first thing Jake White did was completely disassemble the player power apparatus of the previous decade, purge the club of all the culprits, and bring in new blood.

I think this pretty much sums up what Vern Reid DID do to mismanage "the situation" Political BS (not even looking at all the other stuff ups that Reid has done as alluded to by TFG).

As to what he DID NOT do, he did not sack Graham on the spot, and get him frog marched out of the office with a security guard on each shoulder. Because he had been in secret negotiations with QLD during the pre-season, and signed a contract with them mid-season when still contracted to the Force.

Give the kid time. He was showing a lot of improvement toward the end of the season.

Makes sense as he's marrying an ES girl. Good luck to him for the future.

I have read (nothing official though) that he and Harvey have both been released.
