    Wifi problems

My Telstra provided ADSL2 Modem (2Wire) has a Wifi Capability.

for some reason or another - the Wifi isnt loving me that well.

My unit is made of Brick and concrete - and I struggle to get a Wifi Reception for my Nexus7 Tablet im my bedroom - 5 Metres away or the bathroom. 3 Metres away.

Does anyone have any suggestions to get things working better?

Not sure how the antennae aligns, you could try and stand the modem on its edge rather than lying down? or rotate 90 degrees or both?

Find a nice piece of steel in a rectangular type of shape.
Make sure it has an oval hole through the middle.
Get a length of timber and smooth it down so there are no splinters.
Insert one end of the timber into the hole in the steel.
Take hold of the timber by the end that doesn't have the hunk of steel.
Swing violently and smash the crap outta the modem.

    Problem solved.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

If wifi reception's only recently deteriorated, it's probably interference. You need an app to check out what channels your neighbour's routers are using then set your router to use the quietest channel. Download this app onto your Nexus and have a look. Pg 79 in this manual to change the channel. Remember to reboot your Nexus after any changes to the router. No luck, call Big Pond as one on one wireless support's probably best option.

The Telstra modem is probably el cheapo model. I used to have one and similar issue - very poor reception unless there was line of sight. I upgraded to a Belkin N600 dual band and the reception/distance is very good. You can watch movies streamed wirelessly 20m away through a number of walls. So I would look at upgrading your wireless router to start with.
