Juan Smith forced into Retirement

The Cheetahs backrower has battled various injury problems for much of his stellar Super Rugby and Test career but four failed Achilles operations have finally taken their toll.

It is believed a negative MRI report forced Smith to make the decision with an official announcement expected on Tuesday....

Sad news for the guy. I wish him all the very best in his retirement.

Must be the week for it as I see that in the NH, England's Lee Mears has also had to retire - he has a heart condition apparently. Good luck to him too.

Echo those sentiments Alison very sad to see players retire due to injuries lets hope that the can enjoy a good quality of life post rugby into old age
