Very sad news about Chris Eaton, and explains why Sam Christie had to go in at half-back...?

Didn't see Folau being that great though. Very good under the high-ball, but saw him getting turned over at least twice after being tackled. McMeniman was outstanding with his carries...!

D was great. Effort was great as always. Set piece was great.

Attack was OK. We need a 13 who can take some focus off Godwin and Mafi. Dellit or HB would get my vote. Rasolea looked OK for a first run on start. It was very obvious our plan was to go straight through them, maybe we should have done this slightly wider towards the 15m lines to allow some space to free up to try some creative play. We played very narrow. A bit to narrow as we didn't look to use any short side sweep plays when we had them committing to around the corner D.
Worst part for me though was the 15 free points we gave them in the first half. Don't know if the tactic was to hope McKibbon missed ala Chiefs tactics or poor discipline, maybe even Walsh getting on TV for his mum, but to give them such a leg up made this game hard for us to win. Needs to improve.

Hearing Chieka's comments on the game just made me want to puke. Something along the lines of "everytime we got our hands on the ball, they fouled us". The penalty count was 12-11.

Also he stated that our style of play stymied the way they wanted to play. Isn't that what tactics are about?

If we had half the Tahs' back line talent, we would have whipped them.

Last year we lamented the lack of a game plan. We were getting flogged on the score board and the stats sheet. This year we have been in every game at the business end. The execution will likely get there. The effort is there. Just the reward for it to come.

In light of the news given to the players just before the match about Chris Eatons wife, I would say the team performed magnificently.

They wont use it as an excuse, but news like that makes a rugby game fairly insignificant.

Agree HD. I think Folau will be good but only after the EOYT. As for our problems. The backline is starting to gel but is still missing the odd specialist # 13 and 15. Not sold on Dellit or HB. HB is a wing. We also need a good #15 - organiser, speed , ball skills and a big straight kick. Could we have a look at Christie or hayward at 15 and CTM / Hayward at 13 ?

Boab, the 15 you're looking for is Sammy two-dads.

Experienced, organizer, boot like and Exocet missile, maybe not so sprightly any more, which means you'd team him up with Alfie and Junior. He also has plenty of experience at 10 which would work, because I think he'd ay 10 a lot more like Sias than Kyle does. The team wouldn't have to adjust so far, as we've seen, they aren't great at adjusting!

As long as he has the right attitude (which we haven't seen yet) he ticks all the boxes
