"As a commercial guy whose come out of business, every time you launch a new product, in its first year it loses money, in its second year it loses a little less generally, third year it loses a little less again and hopefully in a commercial environment in four years or so you start to get to break even.

Haven't we been saying that since the ARC folded?

Yes. The difference is that John O'Neil has a banking background opposed to Pulver's business background. O'Neil see's the world very much like an account. Balancing books and averting risk. A entrepreneurial businessman like Pulver understands the concept of investment and return. What I'm trying to say is basically accountants are the worst possible individuals to have at the forefront when trying to launch a concept and the need to see through an action to in turn realise a return on that investment.

An example of that is I have heard that there was actually a near certain TV deal for the ARC coming in its 2nd year that would mitigate a great deal of the loss in its second year and likely break even in the third through sponsorship. Which would be 3 years earlier than forecast. O'Neil looking at it in an accounting sense only saw a loss and shut it down so the books looked pretty to the detriment of the game.
