It'd be great for the Force a lend a few experienced players to create more of a WA/SA connection. Reckon the Force should consider playing one home game every year or two in Adelaide or maybe Darwin. Or interchange them.

That might hit their financial viability to lose the income of a crowd at NIB - they've only got 8 a year and that'd give up 12.5% of their attendance (OK, offset by the crowd at Hindmarsh). I'd rather play a pre-season game or bye-week/international break week game there instead.

That was a tricky game to mod for, wonky jersey template.

Just been reading about this new comp, which sounds good but no details on who is in? It says "Expressions of interest are now being sought from existing clubs, groups wanting to form a syndicate or other organisations such as universities or individuals who would like to apply for a place in the competition.", does that mean the Force have to get approved for a team and could the clubs band together and win the spot for the Perth team? http://www.rugby.com.au/FixturesResu...mpionship.aspx

I think you will find that Perth, Canberra and Melbourne are priority teams, they will be in regardless. I also assume based on Ox feedback that Adelaide may also be there. The other four+ are up for grabs. Balmain is rumour, as is a NSW Country team (also played BI Lions this year).

Think of it like a Government - you never have an Inquiry, Tender, Investigation or Expression of Interest unless you already know the outcome!

4 shute shield teams joining to make a bid which is what Pulver wanted.

From the above : "Whilst the precise terms of the Club’s involvement in the Third Tier have yet to be finalised, the Board is very pleased to confirm that the Club, together with our traditional rivals, Northern Suburbs, Manly and Warringah, have committed to lodging an expression of interest for a north of Sydney Harbour team to participate in the Third Tier"

Gordon's my dad's old club so I'm happy to hear that. Sounds like a good way for the traditional clubs to get involved while still creating viable third-tier teams. That corridor is rugby union heartland too.

I see Sydney University is launching a standalone bid though.

Looks like the Woodies will have to buddy up with Harbour, Parra and Penrith. Randwick and the Beastie Boys with Souths. No doubt Uni will want to go it alone. They have the players to do it anyway.

Mark Sinderberry on Sports FM this morning very upbeat about comp.

    In a nutshell:

    • Will not to be called Force as that is the Super 15 team
    • Will utilise players not involved with Wallaby set up and try keep players active for longer in Perth, also use to test future signings
    • May not play at NIB, in view of costs and importance in creating an atmostphere indusive towards this type of comp, TV lighting may make NIB only option but wait and see plan in action.
    • Tender docs being looked over and proposal going forward.

Off the comp topic, he mentioned importance of connecting with local rugby, great job Foley is doing with the boys, and JOC to be looked at again in three to four months only if it is in the Force's interests at the time.

    Again he continues to impress

Thanks to Sports FM for covering Union in Perth

The only way I can see the Black Falcons in NRC is if the comp has 10 teams.

8 team comp will most likely have 3 NSW teams, 2 QLD, Melb, Perth, Canb.

From what I've seen and heard so far, 8-10 teams is what is being bandied about but I don't think this is a final number. It is pretty much down to the groups doing the tenders to make their bids compelling enough to force inclusion. You could easily end up with Nth Bris, Sth Bris, Qld Country, Nth Shore, Sth Harbour, West Sydney, Sydney Uni, Nsw Country, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide. Financial viability would be the key factor.
