    Official Tour Packages

Just been looking at options and prices for official RWC15 tours.

Sportsnet have quoted me a ballpark figure of $7500 for a package that includes a return Econ airfare w Emirates and the cheapest category of seat for the 2 Twickenham QFs, the 2 SFs and the Final. No accommodation or side tours etc.

Doing the same thing independently would probably cost around $4000 tops. Is it really worth paying $3500 for the privilege of guaranteed tickets for 5 games?

    Thoughts anyone?

I bought a package Alison for the RWC NZ as you probably remember... the seats were really crap..Cost me a fortune..promised transfer to games...it turned out to be public transport...!!! I did however manage to get moved for the semi Aus v NZ because I suffer terribly from vertigo...Check out Infinity Travel they were offering me just tickets to selected games Aus v Wales Aus v England and the finals and then you could put a package together yourself.. That's what Mr Hertryk & I are considering....

My plan is similar Wallaies v Wales and England for sure with tour of Ireland before RWC, see what finals pan out, then tour France after RWC Final for Remembrance Day on the Somme.

You are never going to get finals tickets unless you are prepared to be ripped off, know someone in ARU or the IRB, have friends in the overseas booking offices, have celebrity status, or are otherwise extremely well connected.

You can get qualifying game tickets though, but unless you are prepared to sit on your computer for hours and are very lucky, your chances to pre book there are limited.

The best way in my experience is to pick the qualifying games you want to go to and turn up at the venue an hour or two early. You may be able to snag something left over at the ticket office, but more likely (indeed almost certainly) there will be heaps of poor bastards who bought tickets for friends and rellies who let them down and are happy to get rid of them for cost or below.

Ignore the scalpers. You'll quickly get to tell the difference.

I did this and got to see all three qualifying games I wanted to go to in France 2007. Less than face value too, and the seats were ok.

You get to chose who you want to fly with, the standard and cost of your accommodation, chose to stay with friends there if you wish, etc. and go where you want, not where the travel agent wants you to go.

Anyway, that's how I'm going to do it in 2015.

Thanks guys :-) I'll definitely have a look at Infinity Travel as it's really only the tickets to the games that's the tricky bit - everything else is much easier & cheaper to arrange yourself.

If I come across any good deals etc, I'll post the details on here in case anyone else is interested.

I was quoted $5k for category D tickets (the lowest)

    England vs Aust.
    Aust vs Ireland
    All finals games.

I passed as as much as i love rugby, $5k plus flights, hotels etc is a bit too much for a holiday. It didnt help that i had to be quoted on all semis as Australia won't necessarily top the pool.

$5000 bar tab at would get you say 500 Pints - split over 6 weeks of the RWC is 11 Pints per day.
