WA needs a bigger stadium. Irrespective of public debt.
Yep - that's a big statement but it is what it is.
Fremantle football announced their 50,000th member a few weeks ago. I'm sure the Eagles are not too far behind.
The current ground is prime real estate. New ground isn't in as big of a residential area so it can host more concerts and events in general.

Plus - it's also the only chance WA has of hosting a bledisloe in the next 20 years so I'm all for it. Might even get me back over there if that comes to pass

It'll be an All Black home game.

Pretty sure that the deal with Brisbane to host a Bledisloe when Australia hosts two games is up soon?

I guess it actually depends on what Eventscorp and Venueswest can do in terms of bidding for a match rather than an ARU conspiracy.

Brisbane gets one more bledisloe on it's current deal next year. This was the one that they signed after QLD won the title in 2011.
Then I assume it'll go back to Sydney getting it, and the second one rotating between Brisbane & Melbourne in a home series year. So Bris would get one every 4th year. Unless there is the demand for one in WA. I think there would be with all the kiwis already over there. And a large South African population would probably support the kiwis anyway

Sydney locked away a Bledisloe every year for 10 years so I think that agreement still has 6 or 7 years to run.

also fairly certain that one of the criteria was a stadium of 50k plus which is something that Perth currently does not have.

Yep, with the capability to be upgraded to 80k down the track.

As per usual a project in WA that is being done for what is needed now and not for the future.

Springboks vs All Blacks at the new stadium in a one-off would be good.

read an article that subi has only hosted more than 40K a few times though. even in freo's final last year there was seats left. so 60 is going to have min 22k seats empty per game as an average based on the current attendance.

They certainly do, and having managed our corporate suite there for the first two years, I can assure you there is lot to be desired from their management of this part of the Arena.

True Jono, but the big difference is the comfort of a Sh*t way past its use by date stadium vs a new Stadium with much more comfort and facilities which will attract a lot of people who did not enjoy the facilities and comfort level offered at Subi Oval.

This, I have boycotted Subi for a long while openly against the poor viewing for square pitch codes, however given better seat height and facilities I would watch internationals at the new stadium for sure.
