NRC Round 1 Preview

• The ARU have confirmed they will have full match replays and highlights up on their ARUTV online channels on the Monday following every round. Check out the ARU YouTube channel or the NRC site over the weekend and Monday.

• As per the article, Brisbane and Qld Country will have Reds TV live streaming their non-Fox home games. Go to the front page of the Reds website.

• NSW Country are working as a high priority on TV streaming their three remaining home games (not including this weekend unfortunately).

The Rising and Vikings (dammit) won't be providing TV streams of their non-Fox home games due to the cost — (although Rising do have two out of four home games covered by Fox Sports, and the Vikings will have at least one on Fox).

However, Reb Radio will have live audio coverage of all home games of the Melbourne Rising.



For the Round 1 match Rising vs Rays, go to Reb Radio which will run from 1:55pm AEST to the full-time siren - hosted by Pete Fairbairn, with special comments from Jason Jones, the Melbourne University Director of Rugby. - There will be a short intermission at the beginning of halftime, and then North Harbour Rays’ Mark Cashman will join the broadcast to provide a five-minute ‘Rays wrap’ before the second half.

WITH apologies to the Honey Badger, it was hardly like a rat up a drainpipe.

The inaugural running of the mascots race at the North Harbour Rays’ first home NRC game proved less than ideal.

First Tah Man pulled out of the race, then the Warringah Rat pulled a hamstring mid-sprint — and lost its strides.

The half-time sprint — held during the Rays v NSW Country Eagles clash at Brookvale Oval on Thursday night — was set to feature Tah Man, but ESPNscrum reports that the NSW Waratahs’ mascot didn’t have his suit and was a late scratching.

The race eventually took place between the Warringah Rat, the Mac Warrior and the Gordon Highlander.

The Rat hit the lead on the turn and looked to be flying, only to spectacularly collapse with victory in sight.
