I am not entirely sure why we're calling him the community coach of the year, since the article merely calls for nominations then adds something on Nestor as an information piece...

You could argue that the biggest fish that "slipped through the net" did so at a time and a level where he wasn't in control

Cruze Ah Nau, Paul Alo Emile (don't shout at me but) Zack Holmes went to the Brumbies

Then we could quote the ones who didn't originate from WA like Mitch Inman, Luke Jones!

I think the issue isn't that one man is in total control of who is rejected by RugbyWA so much as there are five very agressive teams looking for the next big thing and they all direct their efforts differently.

And Whatsdoin has some unidentified axe to grind.

Cruze and Alo-Emile followed Matt Tink over to Melbourne. Tink also recruited Ryan Hodson from Perth. Other than those only Jake Ball springs to mind of those who slipped through the net. Inman and Jones left for bigger paychecks from that Mitchell fella who originally was the private owner of the Rabble.
As correctly pointed out Dwayne Nestor has not won the award in the article. It is merely a puff piece of journalism to fill space based on Godwins opinion. Taking notice of and putting merit into Whatsdoins comments is a waste of time. If he has a beef with Nestor he should send a formal complaint to RugbyWA or confront him in person, both of which i am sure he will not do. Remember what happened when we started giving Waratahjesus attention? We created a monster and we fed it too.

I thought the article was about who DHP thought was his best coach. Nothing else, didn't matter what we think or what he's done, just what DHP thinks!

Actually Eley, it was about what Kyle Goodwin though, but essentially you're right.

Most here know I'm a teacher, many won't know that I started my career as a phys Ed teacher. As a result I have coached many teams at various community levels in sports I've both played myself and not played. There is very little difference in the experience for me. The skill of knowing what a good skill performance looks like is not enhanced in any way whatsoever by being able to perform it. There are only really two things that you gain from pplaying the game
A the ability to demonstrate a skill
B the ability to describe how a skill feels when performed

Both of these are only of any value if you have performed the skill at a level that you are coaching it, this is pretty rare

    .
    Rare????!!!!
A quick scout through the NZ Super teams would indicate that the coaches there have played the game at a level they are coaching. All NZ teams are above the force.
A quick scout through the NZ ITM teams would indicate the coaches have played at a level they are coaching.
Hence there is a pathway for coaches.
A quick scout through SA teams would indicate the same.
Aus teams are the ones that are 50/50 with coaching/playing experience. The waratahs have a quality coaching crew. (Title holders).
    So where is it rare?
The force are at the bottom of the league and for good reason. The players coming through are not up to standard.

I believe Dwayne Nestor and Elwee Prinsloo are coaches for the NRC.
Have these guys coached club footy here at any level and with any success?
In an earlier post I indicated RugbyWA have to answer for this they are the appointees!

Seems the constant diet of trolls is the sour grape.
Good thing several new bridges are being built on the Tonkin so these types don't go homeless.

    No need to get nasty.
Pretty sure the SA boys coached the spirit last year. Dwayne may have been learning to be a kicking coach or carrying the water!!!

    Settle down BDG
Sevenmile is the only troll with any credibility on this forum although I do believe whatsdoin has some valid points and the touchiest ones seem to be the critics that can't take or cope with hearing the truth
I look forward to your view and comment
