HIGHLANDERS DOWN WESTERN FORCE IN PERTH
The Western Force has fallen to the Highlanders, 23-3, at the ‘Force Field’ (nib Stadium) tonight.
While creating numerous opportunities throughout the match, the home side was unable to complete them, with the Otago side scoring the only two tries of the match to run out 20-point victors.
While the Force held the dangerous Highlanders outfit try-less through the first half, a Lima Sopoaga drop goal and Aaron Smith try within the final 10 minutes of the match extended the final margin.
Force fullback Dane Haylett-Petty was again highly involved and continually threatened the defensive line, while also providing his side with field position through a strong kicking display in a Haigh & Hastings Man of the Match performance.
Flyhalf Sias Ebersohn also proved dangerous in taking the ball to the line, while Ben McCalman, Adam Coleman and Pek Cowan were physical in leading from the front.
The Force returns to the ‘Force Field’ (nib Stadium) next Saturday, 30 May to take on the Queensland Reds.

“I thought we were incredibly good up front in terms of the attitude we played with. Last time we sat here [after the match against the Waratahs] I said irrespective of results we need to see the same attitude and I thought we saw that up front. They’re a very dangerous side and we put them under pressure with our defence in getting turnovers. We created opportunities and we had a couple of opportunities in their 22 in the first half, and we just didn’t take points out of them. We came out after half time, they got into our 22 and made the most of those chances and that’s the difference in the game – they just had a bit more polish in terms of what they did with the ball.
“In terms of defence and in terms of attitude I thought we were great, and I thought we created opportunities with the ball, we just didn’t finish them.
“When we bring that great enthusiasm and great aggression to our defence and create those chances, you’ve got to make the most of them. Against really good sides, you’re not going to get a hell of a lot of chances, and that was the case against the Waratahs, we only got a few chances there. It was the same tonight – against the Waratahs we finished them off, tonight we just didn’t do that.”

I didn't mind when they lost in a good game but now the games are so boring. How are they ever going to attract new fans with this rubbish.
And are they ever going to give a game to Scott, Yamada or Nikora? Are these guys playing club rugby? Give them a go to see what they have got. How can Dellit get a game ahead of anyone??? Have a look at Dylan Leyds, carving up for the Stormers but never got a look in for us.

Dellit has been a great servant for us and played very well in the NRC was due to get a look in, Yamada here to learn mainly, others did not show up well in trials.
Dylan Leyds was were we were looking to build this year, and gave him game time last year and plenty in the NRC, unfortunately of no fault of the Force he decided to go back to South Africa for personal reasons, and was a talent the force saw and hoped to build on. He was not in the initial squads for the Stormers but got abreak through injuries in the currie cup and made the most of it.

I think they need to stop referring to NIB as "Force Field" - it's misleading!
Much as I love Foles, I am getting really tired of the same old script. The Highlanders were a lot more than just "a bit more" polished than us and he needs to be honest about that with everyone.

We sit in the General seating section and there were that many Kiwi supporters that it was like being in Dunedin. It can't have helped the guys hearing that level of support for the opposition at a home game when they were defending their try line. It's about time the Kiwi's that live here and intend staying start supporting the local team. Sorry if I offend anyone but the Saffa's are the same, even the kids wear the opposition team kit and it makes my blood boil - you live here so support the local team!!!As usual, more kiwi team supporters thansupporters.
I've often thought the same PG, but think it through....if ever in your life you move to another place because of work or family, will you stop supporting the Force and start supporting the local team?
I came from England but I would never support them in anything. Australia is my home. I have also lived in NSW and Qld but now we have our own team here I support the Force

I agree and I'm in much the same position.....but if I ever got transferred to Melbourne/Brisbane/Sydney (or even Kiwiland), I'd still be a Force supporter and hence wouldn't just change Allegiance. Which is what we want the Kiwis to do. I see your point, but just thought I'd put it out there.
