Someone of you might often wonder why our beloved tv stations don't show our game live, even when they pay for the broadcast rights.

The InnForcer, Coach, myself and a couple of others a month ago sent some emails to Channel 7, Inside Cover and the ARU complaining of the treatment "our" game sometimes gets and we posted up some of their lame excuses.

TIF and myself were talking about it again last night after the weeks ratings for the 2nd July to the 8th July were released. Who wants to guess what the top rating show for the week was??

Wallabies vs All Blacks ?
Game 3 State of Origin ?

No ... not even close. The reliable survey method that 7 told us was the basis of their broadcast descisions has put the following tv show as number 1 for that week;

Border Security - Australia's Front Line

How crap is that?

It tells me that the TV stations are relying on old, boring, paranoid citizens to tell them what the demographic of australian tv viewers want to watch!

Yeah, but I remember when they got hosed by Ch31 showing the Ashes for them as they thought everyone would rather what Ch7 news. You'd think they'd learn (or maybe they have, they'd rather not show it at all rather than let someone else). I wonder if they'll manage to get the APC on the ABC.

does anyone remember the telethon incidents? where for the past 2 years telethon fell on the same night as one of the tests against england and so channel 7 wouldn't show the game and as they had the rights, they wouldn't let anyone else show it. They weren't shown on fox either... had to settle for watching the scores updated online and talking to my english friend online while i did to keep things interesting...
Channel 7 do a terrible job with the rugby. and how bruce macer whats his face got on the commentary team is beyond me...
you gotta get fox happy... it's worth it just for the fox sports 2 rugby coverage... there is no comparison between them and 7. worlds apart.

I see there is no vision on the Australia A game tonight, and 7 is delaying the test tomorrow. I'd watch it all on Fox anyway to avoid the ads, but it doesn't do the prospects for growth any good.

Wonder what prospect there is for ever getting a rugby channel here. With the number of games played year round, there would be more feed than there is for footy (which has it's own Fox channel, endlessly repeating during the off season)

I believe the new media laws the fereral govt is putting up will prevent the likes of c7 who have rights to a sport they must either show it live or pass it off to another....

With Rugby from this year, my understanding is that Fox have the primary feed and the full rights so the "Telethon Issue" shouldn't happen again.
