Wallabies winger Nick Cummins is returning to the form of the game where he first made his mark after signing with the Australian men's Sevens rugby program in a bid to compete at the Rio Olympics.

Cummins 28, first played Sevens for Australian in 2007 and was part of the 2010 Commonwealth Games silver-medal winning squad in Delhi.

"I'm keen as mustard to get this opportunity to play Sevens again," said Cummins, who will be available to Australia for the last four legs of the Sevens World Series through to the 2016 Rio Games.

Awesome! Shame he won't be there in time for Sydney - just bought tickets. The only ones left were in the northern end of the stadium and single seats in the upper tier.

Just because "The" Honeybadger is not going to be there, does not mean there will not be "any" Honeybadgers there.

Appropriate fancy dress I would say considering today's news!!!

    The answer will be No.

He is playing (available to play) the final four rounds of 7's and then the focus will be Olympics.

Any Super Rugby would not be until 2017.

Would love to have been a fly on the wall at the meetings with ARU to get this deal done after they couldn't find room for him before he went to Coca Cola West Red Sparks.

Nick Cummins signs on to play sevens for Australia in 2016

    January 12, 2016 3:30PM

AUSTRALIA’S hopes of winning sevens gold at the Rio Olympics have received a big boost with ‘The Honey Badger’ Nick Cummins signing on for the 2016 campaign.

The 28-year-old cult hero will link up with the national squad in March and will be available for selection for the final four legs of the world series and then the Olympics in August.

Cummins has played 15 Tests for the Wallabies and also has eight sevens world series caps for Australia.

The winger was also a member of Australia’s silver medal winning Commonwealth Games side in 2010.

“I’m keen as mustard to get this opportunity to play sevens again,” Cummins said.

“She’s a big year, we all know why.

“To make the team, you’ve got to get on the burst and perform — and that’s what I intend on doing.”

Cummins, currently playing in Japan, joins fellow Wallabies Quade Cooper and Henry Speight in Australia’s quest for gold as sevens makes its Olympic debut.

New national coach Andy Friend was delighted to have the extra firepower at his disposal.

“Conversations between Nick and his management and the ARU have been ongoing for a while now but we’re delighted to be able to bring him into the squad,” Friend said.

“He’ll bring a wealth of knowledge into the squad and his previous experience in sevens will stand him in good stead.

“The fact he has signed for a large chunk of the sevens world series once he has fulfilled his obligations in Japan underlines his commitment to helping the team succeed in what is a huge year for sevens in 2016.”

I could be confusing him with JO'C, though, who certainly had his dad as manager. But I thought Cummins did, too
