Rugby World Cup extended to 50 days after player welfare changes

The 2023 Rugby World Cup in France will be stretched out by a week and run for 50 days after increased rest periods for all teams at the tournament were unveiled on Monday.

As part of the package of changes announced by Rugby World Cup Board, the World Rugby executive committee and tournament organisers, teams will have at least five days to prepare for all matches for the first time, as the pool phase will be extended by a week.
