Queensland Reds centre Hamish Stewart set to join Western Force

The Western Force have signed one of the Queensland Reds' most consistent performers for next season.

Wide World of Sports can reveal centre Hamish Stewart will join his former Australian under-20s coach, Simon Cron, in the west on a two-year deal.

The move comes just four weeks after former Reds teammate Alex Mafi said that Stewart would be joining him at the Melbourne Rebels next season.

    Interesting note in article:

It's believed bosses at Ballymore blocked Stewart from joining the Rebels, but when an offer came from the Force to head to Perth, Queensland obliged.

So. Is he there to cover Pasitoa? The timing would suggest so?

Duffy completes Force coaching group for 2023 Super Season
    Thu, 15/09/2022, 5:58 pm
    WM
    by Western Force Media

The Western Force appoint Jimmy Duffy as Forwards Coach through to 2024, securing the coaching roster for the season ahead.

Duffy joins the Force from Ireland United Rugby Championship side, Connacht, where he was Assistant Coach for seven years, leading the club to a Guinness Pro12 title in 2016.

Widely recognized as a technical coach, Duffy is known to cement a formidable defensive structure. This is marked in the recent Irish U20s 2022 Six Nations Grand Slam title where he was Assistant Coach in the 54-point triumph over Scotland.

The 46-year-old further boasts a wealth of coaching experience on the world stage, steering the Irish U18’s through four international campaigns.

Western Force Head Coach Simon Cron said after a rigorous pursuit he is looking forward working with Duffy and the wealth of knowledge he can bring to the club.

“We had a handful of extremely talented candidates, so the process was very detailed and competitive,” Cron claimed.

“What stood out with Duffy is that he has the ability to simplify his breath of expertise in a clear and precise manner, allowing players to grasp concepts, progressing their development.”

A passion for future success resonated by club leaders attracted Duffy to the West.

“When I spoke to Simon (Cron) and Tony (Lewis) the ambition and determination they have to see the club thrive is phenomenal,” Duffy mentioned.

“The drive they have to develop players in local areas and grow the talent base is something that I’m extremely passionate about.”

“I’m all for the plan to make the Force a successful entity both on and off the field with a focus on high-level performance.”

Duffy recognises relationship building as the pillar of his coaching prowess.

“I like to foremost work with the person, I constantly encourage the notion of ‘if it’s their challenge they will rise to it quicker,” Duffy stated.

“I believe when you build solid relationships and collaborate on ideas, you get to know the players on a personal level, I believe this promotes best out of them.”

Duffy is scheduled to arrive in Perth in the coming months.

Sure hope so, watching Hawkes Bay on the weekend you could see that their attack is not quite the same since he left and may have cost them the Ranfurly shield

Feeling very positive that we're getting all the pieces in to position to make us the successful organisation we know we can be.

From the top down, Twiggy, Tony Lewis, Hodgo, the new & existing coaching team. The development of Dorrien gardens as a 2nd home, all the extra games being arranged, players getting rep games.
The recruitment of players may not have gone as well as they would have hoped for. But, still if we're playing the long game, then plenty to be optimistic about.

Dorrien Gardens - Do you know something we don't?
I hope not it would be awful and only holds a couple of thousand anyway.

On the following sports FM link. They would probably have to do it up a bit though cause as you say its currently not up to scratch.

Not much on him except that he has a decent ATAR score, with him and Tom R in the front row we gonna have a pretty smart front row.
