A question TIF, you show most of the WTS players as contracted (only Harris isn't) does that mean they're still WTS and have played enough to qualify for a 2022 contract but will return to WTS next year?

No idea sorry GIGS, all got a bit confusing with Covid and squad top ups from local comp, eastern states etc.

Like Masibaka, was in 2021 emerging squad but not in 2022 WTS and he made his debut against Blues this year.

Now that is some seriously good news. Tim's only going to get better and better, and Kane is consistently one of our best.
Interesting that we've left all of these signing announcements until after the season. I would've thought it would be better to release them earlier to offset the negative news of players leaving, which would assist in signing new players also?

I’m guessing they wanted the signings to be associated with the new coach.

Michael Wells. I'm not quite convinced that is the kind of signing we need right now.

New coach Simon Cron the drawcard as Western Force grab arch rival Melbourne Rebels’ captain Michael Wells

Western Force have snatched Melbourne Rebels captain Michael Wells from their arch rivals for the next two Super Rugby Pacific seasons.

The bruising back-rower said the chance to play under new Force coach Simon Cron, after spending time with him at Shute Shield side Northern Suburbs and the Waratahs, was a big drawcard.

“I’m particularity looking forward to linking back up with Simon Cron who I have spent a bit of time with at Norths and the Waratahs,” Wells said.
“I’ve kept in contact with Cron, so when he told me he was talking to the Force, my ears pricked up a bit.

“He is the best coach I have had. To be able to be coached by him again is a big attraction.

“He is someone who has helped me develop a lot in rugby and constantly gets the best out of me.

“In terms of rugby, what we have seen since the Force re-joined Super Rugby was the passion that is in Perth, for the Force and rugby in general.”

Force general manager of rugby Matt Hodgson said he was looking forward to seeing the 29-year-old thrive at the Force.

“Wells is a natural leader both on and off the field, which has been evident throughout his career,” Hodgson said.

“He is a strong player who will add almost 100 Super Rugby games of experience to our squad.

“His reputation as a hard worker and quality character makes him exactly the kind of player we need..

“His tenacity and abrasive ball-running skills will fit perfectly with how we are looking to build the team.”

Wells, 29, played 26 matches for the Australian 7s on the world circuit before making his Super debut in 2016 with the Brumbies.

He moved to the Waratahs the following year and won their Best and Fairest award in 2018 before heading to Melbourne for the next four seasons.

Wells won the Rebels’ Weary Dunlop Award and co-captained the side in 2021 when he was also called into the Wallabies squad for the French series.

He was appointed Rebels captain last year.
