Totally agree with the comments about giving the broader squad exposure during the regular season.
And that has to mean more than<10 minutes of game time.
Doesn't mean broad level of changes.
Rotation and exposure seems the way to go.
Team selection and management of the player group is a Head Coach responsibility.
