    Black Clash 2023 - 2.30pm WST - 20 January 2023 on Stan

Apparently The Honeybadger is part of the broadcast today too

    The match
The Hot Spring Spas T20 Christchurch Black Clash in association with Heartland pits New Zealand’s biggest sporting stars of rugby and cricket against each other in a high-intensity, hugely fun T20 cricket match at Hagley Oval in Christchurch

In January 2021, the sold-out Christchurch Black Clash was the highest rating sports event on New Zealand television in at least 12 months (Jan 2020 – Jan 2021) with over 1 million viewers on TVNZ 1. These figures were higher than the Prada Cup!

2022 event at Bay Oval in Tauranga sold out 2 weeks prior to the match and had over 1 million viewers on TVNZ 1.

Entering its fifth year and the third time in Christchurch, the T20 Black Clash has established itself as a quintessential annual event on the summer calendar which truly captures the imagination of the public.

Where else do you get to see current All Black Jordie Barrett dismiss former Black Cap captain Stephen Fleming (New Zealand’s second highest test run scorer of all time) for a duck, Richie McCaw take a stunning catch under the high ball, Israel Dagg bowl plum yorkers, Will Jordan knock his cricketing heroes for sixes around the park, Kieran Read score 80+ runs and New Zealand’s best spin bowler of all time Dan Vettori taking three wickets in the last over for the last ball win

Selector Fleming has hand-picked another stellar line up of NZ’s biggest cricketing heroes to lead the line-up for Team Cricket, while Sir Graham Henry will call on current and former All Blacks legends to lead the upstart Team Rugby’s charge.

Many of the Team Rugby players are in fact extremely talented cricketers. The nature of professionalism in the modern era meant they had to choose at quite a young age which sport to pursue.

It’s all tied up after Team Rugby took the win at Bay Oval, this is going to be a night of sport entertainment not to be missed!

    Venue
Hagley Oval is a cricket ground in Hagley Park in the central city of Christchurch, New Zealand. Hagley Oval is where the inaugural Black Clash took place and has been the home of Black Clash bi-annually.

In 2023 it’s anyone’s match as Team Rugby & Team Cricket are tied at two wins each.
