Considering 8 out of 12 teams make the finals you really are setting your expectations far too high!

TBH I was expecting pretty much that game result. After all the hype that the Tahs (golden boys) were on a last ditch chance to go up the ladder, did anyone really think the powers that be would allow the Force to win? The crap that was allowed in that game was atrocious, but the Force let themselves get done over. Seems to me that a lot is still a mindset & focus issue. As mentioned, individually they’re good players, but collectively they can play like shit. After Cron’s interview about showing them what greatness looks like, it’s disappointing it didn’t happen. They can take it on board & learn from it - just don’t let Kuenzle kick for goal.

Even if the officials are politically influenced, it's never gonna change. We still need to be a shit load better than we are.

If we can just cut 50% of the dumb shit out we'd be way more competitive.

We were 17-3 down after 30 minutes with Pugh on a yellow! and were guilty of 8 infringements! If our professional players cannot be taught to remain calm under pressure then there is something glaringly wrong!
And those chances just before half time.
If we'd have been more composed we could have been going in to the sheds 17-13.... game on! Instead it's 22-6.... game over!

Even if Cron is telling them to pull the trigger if they see it's on they still need to remain a little more nuanced with their decision making in the heat of battle.

Two positives for me out of the game.
    1. We have some exciting attacking plays/options which we’ve missed for many years. We just need to finish them off.
    2. We have a coach that calls it like it is. Watch the press conference where he just comes out and says it was their worst game. Tom Robertson said we didn’t get beaten by a better team, we lost the game. To me that means they aren’t burying their heads in the sand and hoping it gets better.

Negative from the game, we still don’t have a 10.

We do have two 10's Daz. We just don't know what their predicted injury return dates are!

Kuenzle has had a couple of shockers kicking for goal this year, but he's usually a decent kick and won us the game against the Drua last year with a rather difficult kick after the siren.

Swinton apparently gets ten weeks downgraded to seven due to mitigating factors.

    7 weeks for Swinton.

Judicial Committee: Helen Morgan (Chair), Chris Smith and Ofisa Tonu’u
    Player: Lachlan Swinton
    Team: NSW Waratahs
    Position: Loose forward
Date of Incident: 15 April 2023
Nature of Offence: Law 9.13: A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously.
Elapsed time in match when offence occurred: 00:21

    SANZAAR NEWS RELEASE

Lachlan Swinton suspended for 7 weeks

A SANZAAR Judicial Committee Hearing has found Lachlan Swinton of the NSW Waratahs guilty of contravening Law 9.13: A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously after he was Cited following a Super Rugby Pacific Match at the Weekend.

Swinton has been suspended for 7 weeks, up to and including 3 June 2023.

The incident occurred within the first minute of the match between NSW Waratahs and Western Force, played at Allianz Stadium in Sydney on 15 April 2023.

The SANZAAR Judicial Hearing held via video conference on Tuesday 18 April, 6:00 pm (AEST), 8:00 pm (NZST) was heard by Helen Morgan (Chair), Chris Smith and Ofisa Tonu’u.

In her finding, Judicial Committee Chair Helen Morgan ruled the following:

"Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles and additional evidence, including submissions from the Player and his legal representative, Mr Aaron Lloyd, the Judicial Committee upheld the Citing under Law 9.13."

"With respect to sanction, the Judicial Committee deemed the act of foul play was reckless, with the contact point directly made with the head, high force and no mitigating factors present. The Committee found the incident was highly dangerous and, after considering all relevant factors of World Rugby’s Head Contact Process and sanctioning table, decided the foul play merited a top-end entry point of 10 weeks. Taking into account mitigating factors, including the Player's acceptance of guilt that the incident was foul play, conduct at the hearing and remorse, the Judicial Committee reduced the suspension by three weeks."

"The player is therefore suspended for 7 weeks, up to and including 3 June 2023.

I respectfully think that's a complete load of shit.

Swinton showed absolutely no remorse on the field, sneering at Strachan and jogging off.
Accepting that the incident was foul play would surely because multiple angles of video gave him no excuse.
His conduct at the hearing is probably so good because he's spent most of his career there and is comfortable.

    He's worse than Darcy Swain.

Maybe Matt has got himself a pair of those Blue Shaded Goggles that stop most of us having an objective view of on-field incidents.
