    SRP 2023 Round 10 - Reds v Force

Queensland Reds co-captain Liam Wright and lock Seru Uru will return to face the Western Force at Suncorp Stadium.

Uru and Wright are the two changes to the Reds XV who beat Moana Pasifika a fortnight ago, with Jordan Petaia moving to fullback and Jock Campbell to the wing in a reshuffled backline.

George Blake is set for a Queensland and Super Rugby Pacific debut off the bench.

Uru’s return from concussion sees him start alongside Connor Vest at lock, while Wright will reprise his combination with the Fraser McReight and Harry Wilson who re-signed with the Reds through 2025 today.

Co-captain Tate McDermott again partners Lawson Creighton in the halves, with James O’Connor and Josh Flook starting in the midfield.

Blake will potentially debut off the bench, with Filipo Daugunu also returning to the side as a finisher.

Force coach Simon Cron has made three changes to his starting side from the one that beat the Highlanders at home.

All three are injury related, with Test loosehead prop Tom Robertson ruled out with a calf strain, flanker Ollie Callan a neck issue and Toni Pulu concussion.

The 118kg loosehead prop replaces Robertson in the No.1 jersey while returning Force openside flanker Carlo Tizzano makes a welcomed return in the No.7 jersey, three years after leaving the club.

Former England sevens flyer Zach Kibirige also makes a timely return after missing last week’s win and slots in for Pulu.
The other key change sees Gareth Simpson return via the bench, with the halfback missing the past two games. He replaces Ian Prior.

Reds (1-15): Sef Fa’agase, Matt Faessler, Zane Nonggorr, Connor Vest, Seru Uru, Liam Wright, Fraser McReight, Harry Wilson, Tate McDermott, Lawson Creighton, Jock Campbell, James O’Connor, Josh Flook, Suliasi Vunivalu, Jordan Petaia.

Replacements: Richie Asiata, George Blake, Peni Ravai, Ryan Smith, Jake Upfield, Kalani Thomas, Tom Lynagh, Filipo Daugunu.

Force: (1-15): Charlie Hancock, Tom Horton, Santiago Medrano, Felix Kalapu, Jeremy Williams, Tim Anstee, Carlo Tizzano, Michael Wells (c), Issak Fines-Leleiwasa, Bryce Hegarty, Manasa Mataele, Hamish Stewart, Sam Spink, Zach Kibirige, Chase Tiatia.

Replacements: Feleti Kaitu’u, Marley Pearce, Siosifa Amone, Ryan McCauley, Rahboni Vosayaco, Gareth Simpson, Bayley Kuenzle, George Poolman.

    Referee: Reuben Keane.

I think the team is more or less as expected with injuries to Robertson, Callan and Pulu.

Looking forward to seeing Hancock finally on the field for us, and even better the return of Tizzano.

    Team again looks well balanced.

I'm guessing Wagner must be injured also, so we're down to our 3rd and 4th string looseheads?
Not great timing, as the tight five is likely the Reds main area of weakness. Hancock is apparently 118kg, so hopefully goes alright in the scrum.

Decent looking team other than that, but the Reds are pretty much looking full strength and have a lot of strike power. Good timing having Tizzano and Kibirige back to cover injuries. Hopefully we see Isi soon also.
Also great to see IFL retaining the 9 jersey after excellent recent performances.

Let's hope we've learnt from our flogging from the Reds earlier in the season and avoid kicking the ball aimlessly to Petaia this time around. Keeping the ball in hand with good ruck security should be the order of the day.

Fines defences is something that is not talked about. He seems to tackle WAY above his size, and often has dominant tackles. It is a real apsect of his game i am noticing more. They are not just tackles, they are monsters (things not caught in stats)

    Shame for Wagner.

I pulled over a bloke at the rugby last week to ask what size heritage jersey he was wearing to size myself up. Great bloke very accommodating and beaming with pride as it was Wagners father over from Queensland. Shame he missed his son playing.

Remember 2014 when Jayden danced through from 25m out? Never tire of seeing Will Genia hanging off his boot laces!

Can’t find specific video but it’s the round 8 game, and Jayden’s moment of magic was I the 78th minute.

I can remember it capping off an all dayer in the MR hotel before she was closed!

Good luck tomorrow boys! We’ve got this!!!!
